You know, if you're not here, you should refrain from making such a comment. LOTS of people (including myself) either have, or have already had, H1N1. Schools in my state have temporarily closed due to lack of students showing up, vaccine is delayed, and Ricola throat drops are impossible to find. Hospitals are not allowing under-18's through the doors unless they are a patient (if your mom has a baby, you have to wait till s/he comes home to see your new sibling, for example. Forget about visiting grandma after her open-hear surgery.)

There are 4 states where H1N1 is not widespread.

maybe i've missed something (i haven't read the entire thread, admittedly) but what good are Ricola throat drops? have the swiss invented some sort of magical bonbon that kills swine flu?

Now that is reason for panic!

Is it not just a little coincidental that just as the "vaccines" have reaced "production" stage and are being delivered and ready for use, a national emergency is declared...

Does it not serve to get those people who cannot or will not analyse the issue objectively into a state of panic so that they will be clamouring to get this "vaccine" injected into themselves and their children?

Does no-one else find the timing just a little coincidental?

Here's how it works. Every year, the experts, who do "science" research and try to guess which flu will be the most prevalent. They then make a vaccine for it.

This year the only difference is that the prevalent strain happens to be slightly more dangerous than others we've seen in modern times.

So no amount of "scare quotes" around the "words" you "use" will make it otherwise.

edit: as was already pointed out, national emergency is more of a funding maneuver anyway. Would you be in such a conspiratorial tizzy if the headline were "Obama declares extra funding as vaccine reaches production".

Isn't honesty something that most people want in a politician nowadays? Why the scare tactic? EMERGENCY!! We made drugs for you to buy and take. I wouldn't appreciate the scare tactic in a society that typically uses fear as a political/marketing tool.

Doctor: Though your surgery is pretty routine and safe, we'll need to transfer you to a different hospital for them to perform it

Guy: Ok

Doctor: So tomorrow morning, be ready and the ambulance will take you over a couple km away, should be a 30 minute drive.

Guy: Wait.. what?! An EMERGENCY VEHICLE?! Why the scare tactics doc? I appreciate honesty! What aren’t you telling me?!

Doctor: Whoa, settle down, it’s just a normal ambulance… sure it says “emergency vehicle” on the side, but we use it for routine patient transport also

obviously a conveniently timed national emergency in regards to a flu that has so far proved to be less dangerous than the standard flu is of no concern to most...

I personally find it a little suspicious.

But hey that's what we do when we need to free up funding and offsite hospitals... we declare a national emergency!
