I'm curious about how many English speakers there are in and around Ulm and Input. My husband is being transferred there. We don't have an apartment yet, but are thinking about Erback. That is not set in stone, though.

If anyone familiar with the area could write us a little something, that would be great. Or recommendations would be appreciated too.

We are 3. Early to mid 30s and a baby, 6 months. So far haven't had much interaction with other English speakers because we live out in the country with no train access.

where's Input? Never heard of that town, but there are so many little villages in this country. Oh, maybe it's by Augsberg?

I think she means she is "Looking for people around Ulm" and also "Looking for some input", presumably about living around Ulm.
Mishell
Wow, that was worse than a split infinitive. This is what happens when there is no one to talk to.

Yes, looking for input about the Ulm area from people living in or around it.

Thanks,
Mishell

I'll be living in Ulm 3 weeks as well, starting an internship (I'm 25 and finishing up my Masters). Still haven't found a place to live either :-( But would be cool to have an English-speakers meet-up in Ulm at some point!

But as far as any input goes, I don't know much yet - only been there twice so far!

Hello there!

Sorry there doesn't seem to be that many Ulm TT'ers online anymore. The group is not as active as it used to be but we do occasionally organize an evening out (usually its auntysarahjane who initializes such social gatherings). As for English people in Ulm; there are a few Brits, some Scots, the occasional Irishman and at least two Americans that I know of. And then there's a handful of South Africans. which include myself and my wife.

Erbach is quite a bit outside of Ulm, there's a nice secluded artificial lake there where I go swimming in the summer, it being essentially a village I doubt there are many if any English speaking residents in Erbach.

If you'd like to meet up for a drink or a coffee you're welcome to PM me! I always look forward to meeting new English speaking folk.

Cheers,
Louis.

Hi Mike and Louis. Glad to know there will at least be a couple of English speakers around. We will probably be moving to the area by mid July.

Hey!

I just moved in last week, but am on vacation right now. Will be back in Ulm on the 14th to experience my first weekend there. Lemme know if any you all want to meet up that weekend - I don't know anyone at all, so I'll be bored and up for something for sure!

Hi, everyone!

Welcome to TT! It's exciting to see some new names on here. There is a handful of the original group still around. We can plan a meeting for this weekend. Maybe an after work drink. How is Friday for everyone? I suggest we meet at Wilder Mann at 19.30. If it is warm (fingers crossed) we can sit outside, if not, we can get a table inside.

I will PM the veteran TTers and hopefully the newbies can make it and we can get a real group going in Ulm!

My name is Kym and I'm from California. I've been in Ulm for almost 2 years. My boyfriend is Scottish and some of the other TTers are from the U.S., England, New Zealand, South Africa, etc.

Reply on here, or just show up !

Oh come on Louis there are lots of us on TT Ulm. We are all awaking from our Winter slumber! :-)

To our new Ulm residents, Ulm is the better choice to stay, more to do, is handy for the shops etc, and tons of Native English speaking people in Ulm ,not all of which use TT! Erbach is nice but ist a bit out in the sticks!
Im Scottish and have been in ( and around) Ulm for 9 years now, Kym (caligirl), Sarah (Auntysarahjane) and Jon (JReast) organise the most nights out. Some of the lads organise a few LADS only nights out in Munich from time to time, you know where we get to talk footie, take the rise out each other and generlally talk rubbish.

In winter a lot of us go skiing or boarding together, and Kim orgnaised a Bierbike (tm) trip privately just a few days ago. (www.bierbike.de)

We organise curry nights, fasching trips, christmas market visits, the whole nine yards. Recently most communication is done though I guess on face book, where most of us have exchanged contact details with each other, as our details remain private so to speak.

Like the others say, there are lots of native English speaking people in Ulm.

Hey!

Friday drinks in the Wilder Mann sound good!

My name is Claire and I'm from Ireland. It would be great to meet some more English speakers, since my German is dire!

Hope to see ye on Friday!
