Fact is, the CDU/CSU/FDP are offering anything better and they are not guaranteed to win everything.
That's part of the reason they are after Foreign Minsiter Fischer; they want to get rid of a popular figure cos they know they aren't guaranteed to win any federal election.

why is a Foreign Minister held responsible for visas by the way? Surely its the 'Home Secretary' that is responsible (Schilly?)
