Meetups for drinks in Essen

Now there seem to be a few people here who are located in Essen, how about an evening meetup for drinks?

We would probably meet somewhere in central Essen from about 19:00. As many people are having holidays this week, I would suggest we give ourselves a couple of weeks to collect some names. I don't know Essen having been here only a few days so if any of you can think of suitable bars (ideally, also serving some food).

We will start by suggesting that those who are interested state their TT id and the evenings that they prefer. Just copy and paste the list at the end of the posting.

I'd be up for it, can't really do tuesday or thursday before 9 though, anywhere on the Ruttenscheid is good

At least the Ruttenscheid is looking like a common theme for a location. I explored the area last week and it seems well served for places to eat and drink. Let's just see if we can find some more people. Now that Easter is over, we shall wait another week to try to catch some more responses.

Like any TT thing, it should be emphasised that anyone is welcome, whatever their language as long as they can string some words together in English and its for all age groups. Bring colleagues along if you wish. The more the merrier.

I'd recommend that you guys meet up at "Fritzpatricks" (Girardetcenter), which is an Irish Pub, where you can meet at least some other English-speaking folk ... ;-)

We still going to go ahead with this? The Ruttenscheid is really easy to find from the main station - it has two tube stops Ruttenscheider Stern and Martinstrasse one at each end of the street, theres about 400m between the two stations.

Theres another english guy at work who i'll bring along if we sort out a date/time, and theres a guy from this forum called MartinC who would prob be up for it as well.

If you can get to Essen, we think we might somehow be able to smuggle you in!!! I've been waiting on getting enough bodies but we may be able to now.

Anyway, I now have a possible date and time. Someone suggested to meet at Fitzpatrick's Giradet Str 2, 4531 Essen. So why not next Tuesday (26th May) evening from 19:30? The closest U-bahn is Martinstrasse. I know one person can only make it after 21:00, no probs I think we will be there until about 22:30, some may even come for early doors. The pub is a typical mock-Irish pub as found around Europe serving food as well as Guiness, pils, etc.

If people are interested, I'll reserve a table in the name Toytown.

The pub is called "F*r*itzpatricks" and it is located at "Gira*r*detcentre". The tram (underground) stop is "Martinstraße". From Essen Hauptbahnhof you can get there by taking a 107 tram or a U11 underground train. Take a nice eight-minute walk to Girardetcentre and - Bob's your uncle! Hope this helps ... Have fun!

I should be there as well.

So we meet Tues, 26th May from 19:30 or so at Fritzpatricks. As mentioned by Wolf, it is easy to get to (107/U11 to Martinstr) but feel free to message me for my cell number.

I'll try for outside if the weather looks good but we have a small possibility of rain tomorrow so if it doesn't look so good then we will grab a table inside, probably in the middle bit away from the TVs.
