Look, I've been posting on the Squash thread, so far no answers.
Gals, physical fitness is really important. It clears your mind, your body feels good, looks better and all is OK.
I am not looking for super athletes here. Just girls that wanna hook up, maybe run 10K on a Saturday together, slow. We could play squash together, go for drinks. Or...my dream...we start a lacrosse group and battle it out for a few hours...
Ladies...you do not have to be professionals, here. I am not! Getting out and having a great work out does wonders and we will all be fit for a GIRLS NIGHT OUT!

Really, I am serious. Let's start doing stuff OUTSIDE of the bars. We deserve it and we will all feel better.
I am absolutely against hiking or walks. They are good, they work for people, but I need the adrenaline kick.
Just PM me if you wanna start something up.

Beans, if physical fitness is the key to
your sanity, I really think
you should be doing more...
Might take you up on squash, but it's so bloody expensive adn the courts are usually miles away from anywhere.

That's the whole point of the post, Showem!
I do exercise everyday, but I thought it would be good to get groups together, any sport, doesn't matter.
Again, let me know.
And Showem, I appreciate your pointers, sister!

How about a Hash run?
Anybody know those guys, the Hash Whatever Group or something like that. Everytime I call to find out where they are, where to meet, they never call me back.
Run for a few hours, then drink later on.

I'm one of the contact people for them and if you leave the correct phone number, I always call back. Well, usually. But lots of people seem to shoot their number off with a mouth full of marbles and I never figure out their number. If you want, you can always try the webpage to see where the next run is. The next one is this Saturday and should be in the city.

If you want to do something a bit different, then you could play touch football.
The German touch football association meet at the Chinese Tower at 11am on Sunday mornings and play for a few hours. It's a good way to keep fit and open to absolutely everyone - all ages, m or f.
It's a lot of fun and an international group of people. I haven't been as often as I would have liked to, usually because I'm too hung over!! It's getting a bit cold now, but they're still playing. There's also no problem with not knowing the rules or never having played before. Several people have joined after walking past and seeing the game - in fact they encourage passers by to join in. A lot are German who had never heard of it before and end up coming back every week.

Do you know some basic rules though, before somebody gets up early for a Sunday morning and it turns out to be not as good as expected?

Touch football is derived from rugby. It doesn't have any tackling though, which increases it's appeal to a wider range of people.
Basically.
In attack. Throw the ball backwards, try not to get touched, don't drop the ball, score tries.
In defence - touch the person with the ball.
I'm not going to describe anymore. Go and have a look for yourself and see if you like it.

That's hilarious.
I've been calling showem for a year! (Showem) Remember at dinner Friday how we said we both seemed familiar?
Once again, I can't start something up on a thread. Good to see some interest here, but I think we will have to organize this at a girls night out.
The hash people have the running down perfectly, I was more interested in lacrosse. Can't really start it up until Spring, anyway.
So, my squash offer is still open. Any girls looking for a partner, pm me.

Beans, there is a lacrosse team in Munich, which has a men and womens team and plays most of the year. Go to
http://www.lacrosse-club-muenchen.de. Just curious, where are you from?

Thanks, Homer J.
Looks German, though. Am I wrong?
I know we all have to adapt eventually, but I like spending my fun time with the English speaking crowd.

Beans, I am not sure about the women's team, but on the men's team there are a few ex-pats and most of the Germans speak english. I would assume the women's team is similar. At any rate, they are very welcoming to any one who wants to play. Give it a try, you will be glad you did.

Homer J.,
It is a German group though, yes? I am sitting in front of my computer with my dictionary, on the website and just decided, what the h! I agree with you, I won't regret it if I make the effort to join in, no regrets with sports-ever! I just don't know how to contact the people, what to expect...
Thanks

Ooooh. Girls and sports. I'd suggest
Ultimate Frisbee. The goal is to pass the disc to a team member in the endzone of your field. Sounds easy until you realize that the person holding the disc can only pivot on one foot basketball-style while everybody else is swarming all over the field. The disc also flies *fast* and requires good control, which translates to a sport with lots of sprinting interspersed with periods of intense concentration and finesse while throwing.
When I had more time to play I used to get endorphin highs every time because of the jogging/sprinting. Great fun!
They have several teams here, and the people who play are a good mixture of germans + internationals. Since it's not a German sport, most Germans who played picked it up overseas! Try
or Munich Woodpeckers. They do everything from pickup-level games to participation in organized tourneys. There are even several womens' teams listed!

I feel a little guilty about starting this thread up RIGHT BEFORE WINTER! But, some good ideas have been posted.
Ultimate Frisbee sounds great. Have you heard of Frisbee golf? Do that play that here in Munich?
Some of us were talking last night about how much we miss golf here, since it's so expensive, but Frisbee golf may just be a good alternative! (in the spring time)

I knew I saw it somewhere here before.
@keydeck...thanks.
I will be more aggressive with this in the spring time. Now, it's the gym for me I think. Al though, I spoke with someone recently who mentioned a skiiing program, teaching weekend. Any ideas for that?
Skiing is another one of those sports that costs a lot, but it would be a shame for me to be living so near the alps and never had done it!

We should organise a TT ski trip one weekend.
I keep saying it, and people keep agreeing to it (after I've told them how safe and easy it is ;-), but nothing happens.
Hmm, maybe I'll do some research and start a thread. It should be pretty cheap for a weekend here I reckon.
Have you thought about getting a bike here -
radlbauer do 'em for €200.
Tom.

Well...I have a bike, but I was put on probation for using it and not locking it up! (see old thread)
Good idea with the ski trip, SparkaHck.

If anyone is interested in a bodyscupting class in the munich area, please contact me. I just got back from one, (missed my yoga class) and I had a very, very unpleasant experience and barely made it through the 50 minutes.
I don't want to give the name of the place online, because he is a new instructor and their other courses are good, but he was SO AGGRESSIVE and spoke English/German and really was borderline abusive! TOO TOUGH!
PUSH YOURSELF right in my face. It's not boot camp, it's a girls light workout class!
I am traumatized. And shaking!

You're going about it the wrong way with this crowd, I think... Mention "alcohol" somewhere in the discussion as well as "meeting time is... " and you've got yourself the first of the weekly TT "ski" trips.
