I am doing a ski course in Tignes, France next April.
I was wondering if anyone knew the best and cheapest way to get there from here ? I am going for abuot a week and need accommodation also. I can book accommodation seperately - but are there package deals from here to ther with accommodation and travel ?

I would appreciate any advice !! blink.gif

well, i don't know off the top of my head.

i do know, i did a lot of europe (too many) / (1) american trips last year. Traveloberland. i do believe they have a website, but they have places all over munich, too. look in the yellow pages.

traveloberland is really cheap, but i also found them quite friendly (if that is important to you). other places, like reiseburo, they were just rude. i mean, i walk in and say i need this and this and that, take my money, and they acted offended and irritated. so i took my cash to traveloberland...

The Travel Overland webpage is http://www.travel-overland.de/
Also try Expedia (http://www.expedia.de/) and Opodo (http://www.opodo.de/)

If you want to go by train, just go into one of the DB booking offices and they'll be able to sort out a train ticket and hotel booking all together. Assuming there's a rail connection to the place you want to go, of course.

thanks folks !
unfortunately I don'T speak German so I'll get my flat mate to translate when he come back.
Yeah the nearest train station to Tignes is 20 miles away. How do I find out if there's a bus or something ? I don'T want ot ahve to pay for a taxi !!

There should be english speakers at the DB offices, so lack of German shouldn't be a problem if you decide to go for the train option.

As for finding bus connections to/from Tignes, try the website (which has an english version available):

Every single time I went there, I spoke my backwards German, and they started speaking in English and helped me out.

Really, there may be better places for you here in Munich, but it means a lot to me when I'm paying for a service and I get taken care of. They were number one for me, as far as helping me out, showing me all my options and not being rude.

mmm, sounds pretty silly of you to book a ski trip, but neither know how you will get there nor know where you will stay. you would think the ski resort would offer accomodations, probably the cheapest alternative since you will be going during peak ski season. or maybe you just like adventure or better yet odyssey's

Yeah its a bit silly - but I'm doing a particular course with a particular teacher. THat I've booked - but the corwd I bboked it through are ridicoulsy expensive for the accommodation etc. So it's not so silly really - jsut a bit awkward.

Hey Malcolm,

cheers for the link - that website is really useful actually.
Er kind of embarassing here - but I did visit that site before - I just didn't cop on there was an english version !!

Thanks everyone - I should be able to manage !! biggrin.gif

Thanks beans ! Yes manners count for alot ! Last time I was in Munich I tried to book a Pension for a night. But I couldn't find the place - and the ignorant f**k refused to spell the name of the street for me as I coudln't understand his pronounciation ! Well I showed him - got somewhere else for cheaper ! HA!

I have had to cancel my trip cause of the spiralling costs and my complete lack of er -money.
