Hanzi is holding a Whisky tasting party on Saturday 18th April for those of you with discurning palats. Whiskies on offer are from the smaller destillaries in Scotland and are aged from 5 to 17 years. Most are 46%.
The whisky tasting is from 18:00 onwards, if the weather is nice then it will be out side. Otherwise it will be at Hanzis speakeasy. Come and try an Auchentoshen, or Ben Nevis, or a very rare Oa of Islay. Venue is Eching.
How to get there:- S Bahn S1 direction of the Airport but only until Eching Station. There the Whisky bus will pick you up and return you to the station, or if weather is good, you can also request Hanzi picks you up with his 80 year old Riksha.
Give me a ring on 0171 649 2641 or 0175 582 9114.

I've been to a couple of HanZi's whisky tasting evenings - a pleasant way to enjoy (and for the uninitiated like me, to learn about) fine whiskies in a convivial atmosphere. I have not yet seen the antique Riksha in action, but am hoping for fine weather if I make it to this event, as that sounds like an experience not to be missed!

This sounds like it could be a lot of fun! I am arriving in Munich on the 12th, so this might be a perfect way to spend a Saturday evening. Any idea of the cost, or is it on the website? And do you know if I would be able to pick up a ticket on the day of?

The website is VERY hard to read. The background color and the ancient font choice do not work together to be user friendly at all.
But after hurting my eyes, I think I made out - it is 10€ and you get 4 taste for that (does not say if full shot or not) and then you pay per shot after. Looks like they only have 4-6 types to choose from. But then again, it is VERY hard to read, so perhaps this info is wrong???

That is the special sobriety test! If you can read it, then you can come along! It's all clever technology.
We don't have a problem reading it at all. Just drink a bottle of wine before reading it. It makes it much easier!

At the previous two whisky evenings at HanZi's, there was a charge of 10 €, for which you got four 2 cl shots. After that, further shots could be had for 2.50 € each.
The second time I went, there were more, and different whiskies available than the first time. I think he's just getting started wtih this, and is building up a wider selection.

I have just ordered a couple more Whiskies ready ffor the next event.
A KnockDhu, Macallan, and a YIM. The YIM is a new private destillery, which is uncasking its first Malt this year. At present I do not have much information about it.
In Addition on offer are the Auchentoshan 1991, and 2001 (Very smooth lowlands whisky) Glendullan, Caol Ila, Clynelish, Glenrothes, and Aberfeldy. There is a posibbility that there will be another Bottle of Oa 58%, however there are only 8 bottles available of this superb Malt. Further supplies are expected in September (About 100 bottles).

I'm guessing that's
Kilchoman, it's a converted farm.
