Discount supermarket foods - Who makes what - Germany

Stores and brands - Aldi - Lidl - Penny Markt etc.

Malcolm Spudbury
With this site you can find out who makes the foods that you find in the discount supermarkets:

Lebensmittelmarken

Why would you want to do that? Because a lot of the products in Penny, etc, actually come from well known companies that produce "Markenartikel" and the quality of the products is exactly the same only at a cheaper price.

The site doesn't give any info about which non-branded products are the same as the branded ones though. I guess you have to do that bit yourself. But that's not going to be a problem if you're already anally retentive about saving a few cents on the price of a packet of salami...

Katrina gave a good link Frozen Pizza - Best brand in Germany that listed which no-name products are the same as the brand names.

interesting. im reading a piece for harvard business review about the pros and cons of such practice and its relervance to weakening or strengthening a brand. its a massive double edged sword. you produce for aldi so that your factories are at 100% production. people then shop more at aldi so the demand for your premium brand falls which leaves more production time for... Aldi goods. at the end of the day you fuck your profit margins bid time.
