The usual story: Three men meet a woman on the last evening of the Oktoberfest 2007, the usual drinking and dancing fun commences. After the tent closes, the four of them take a taxi to one of the guy’s apartment where things get nasty: The woman is drugged and then raped for hours by two of the guys while the third guy takes pictures with his cell phone.

It happens often enough, generally the woman has no idea what was going on, gathers her clothes and what’s left of her senses and leaves. But what with the widespread use of cell phones to store and share pictures the police have proof of the crime, some pictures to help identify the victim, the drug was found in the suspect’s apartment. Two of the suspects are currently in jail for drug related crimes, the third was arrested. They are all three facing charges of aggravated rape and grievous bodily harm.

Now, all the police needs is the victim. She was wearing jeans and a black top with a wooden clothespin bearing the name “Liserl”, she is between 14 and 28 (the pictures are not distinct enough to determine her age), has dark, shoulder-length wavy hair and probably lives around Prinzregentenstrasse in Bogenhausen. Her name could be Lisa, Elisabeth, Alisa, Elise or Lucie. Possibly, she is a student at the main university in Munich, she seems to have known one of the rapists slightly; he is a student at LMU.

One of the guys is saying nothing, the second is telling a totally different story. Only the third says that he “only” took the pictures and has signed a complete confession. Threre is enough evidence to convict, says the DA, but the sentence depends on the sum of the circumstances and the victim’s description of the incident.

Therefore, the police hopes that by publishing the pictures of the culprits “Liserl” may recognize them. And not just “Liserl” – the police suspect that there is more than this one victim. The pictures are available via the above link.

Maybe Liserl doesn´t want to be identified...

Maybe her memory is so hazy that she didn't know what to tell the police at the time. The police assure that her privacy will be respected; what they hope is that by seeing the culprits and knowing that they are in jail she may remember more and be able and willing to speak out. And as the police point out: There may be more than one victim, knowing that she's not the only one may give her the moral courage to file charges. The more victims speaking up means longer time behind bars for this scum.

I think I wrongly assumed that her name would be splashed over the tabloids when found.

Even more worrying that she is between 14 and 28 !!! 14, 15 or 16? FFS

I don't understand this story. How did these guys get found out? Did the idiot who took the pics on his cell phone lose it? Resell it? Why would the police search the flat without any complaints or victim accounts?

Though I could probably answer these questions for myself if I could read a bit better.

And does this really happen that often? Sick.

The guy was doing drug deals, the police impounded his phone and found the photos.

@ gideon - I totally agree. Sick. Not up to your usual standard.

I assume that she willingly went to the apartment with 3 men after a night out. That in itself is bordering on asking for trouble!!!

I agree, that was foolish. But if she was up for action why did they drug her? Scum.

The impatience of youth. Come on we all know this girl was being bloody silly in her actions. Happens every year and we have the same "No means No" vs. "Use your loaf woman". Doesnt justify these rapists actions though what so ever. But if I had daughters I would warn them about doing this stupid shit. Some men are animals. And you would never tease three rotweilers with a steak would you?

Right so riddle me this, if you go back to another blokes apartment after a night out and he rapes you...

Do you see how ridiculous your argument is now?

Oh, so a woman going to the flat of 3 seemingly normal men who she spent the whole night chatting and drinking with is asking for trouble. The SZ has an article in the "Munich" section today including photos of the 3 men. This is the article including the photos. None of them look particularly shifty, one of them is a student at the LMU.

It was not her fault in any way. One could say that she was perhaps more careless than normally due to her being smashed I suppose, but that's it. Those guys had planned it, they had the drops and the police suspects that she wasn't their first or only victim.

So guys, stop blaming women for things like this. This is just sick.

This thread is already picking up pathetic "she asked for it" momentum, so I'll tune out soon, but I am interested in how they know she was drugged simply from a bunch of photos. It seems as though this is a recent development: The drugs were found recently but the picture is from a year-and-a-half ago. How do they link the two? Or are they not linked yet, hoping that a victim comes forward to tie it all together? That seems like borderline police work if that's the case, honestly.

No its perfectly good common sense. It's people who hold the zero common sense opinion that are more likely to get themselves into these situations. If I go to the gay sunday and drink and chat with three strangers who take me home, drug me I think I have myself in part blame for any rape. Not that gays are more inclined to rape mind, but I'm sending out signals that I'm interested, stupid and a victim.

In situations such as this people like to confuse completely separate issues.

1. Girl going home with men

2. Men raping girl

However you judge the first doesn't impact the second.

I agree, the girl is an idiot for getting in a cab and going home with 3 men after Octoberfest, we all know that's stupid and dangerous. However, that does not in any way make the act of rape any more ok or any less reprehensible.
