Personalised beer barrels

Is this even possible?

Yes, yes, yes, I know the final answer to this anyway (i.e. phone them up and ask them), but I thought I'd ask if it has been done: is it possible to have a barrel of beer personalised?
Either by having names and a date burnt into the wood or by fixing a plaque or similar?

The reason for the question is that I'll be attending a wedding and as the couple is coming to Germany for the ceremony, but don't live here, I'm looking for a present that doesn't need packing.
Well the top of the Fass or the plate they could keep and use the beer at the Polterabend or hangover meet-up.

Whether or not it is possible specifically from this brewer is something I'll probably have to ask them, BUT have any of you ever done this or seen it done? Many thanks in advance.

You could buy a black marker pen and do it yourself. Or get some paints and stencils and do it in an Alpine style.

Is it going to be the Tegernseer then? Lovely place.

I've only seen it done on wine barrels for famous people (like royalty famous) and the winery of course keeps the barrel in their cellar. I think a plaque would be more easily transportable after removing it from the then-empty barrel, which the brewery could then reuse without any problems. Theoretically anyway.

Do you mean wooden barrels? Most beer is now served from fairly unattractive metal kegs, which are actually quite expensive due to the increasing prices of whichever metal they're made out of. Aluminium, I guess. Obviously wooden barrels are also possible, but in both cases you would presumably want something removable so that you can return the barrel and get your deposit back.

When beer is served from the barrel in the UK, they sometimes have a nameplate hooked around the barrel with a small chain. The plate may be printed with the beer's logo, or it may be blackboard-style material where you can chalk on the name. Something like that would work, and you wouldn't even need to involve the brewery. Or you can do it like this.

I went to a wedding that had the two liter glass beer "krugs". The company that makes them for some small brew pubs can paint whatever you like on them. The beer in this case came from Vogelbrau in Karlsruhe. I assume these 2 liter krugs are found elsewhere as I have seen them at Vetters in Heidelberg as well. But you never know with those free staters in Bavaria.

It is Tegernseer, well done for spotting the pic!
And yes it is wooden cask in the Bräustube.
The Polterabend is there with the wedding and reception elsewhere in Tegernsee.

Ooh ooh if they have the Ruderfähre on go across to Rottach. Leaves from Point. The fella's good n' grantig too.

How long do you have untill the wedding and how much are you willing to spend on the barrel. I don't know if tegernsee do fill wooden barrels, but I think they should. Anyway a possible solution, depending on how much you want to spend is get a company to make you the specific barrel, or have them alter a barrel for you and then get tegernsee to fill it up and serve it for you. I could probably find out a couple of companies that make wooden barrels if you want. They probably cost a fair bit of change though. The cost of the beer itself would of course depend on how big a barrel you get, but shouldn't be pretty cheap.

It's just after Easter and I'll PM you with a price span.

Airbräu at the Flughafen do wooden barrels. You could get a barrel there and then find a wood burner at one of the tourist shops like the place around the corner from Heimeranplatz and have them do the personalising.

woof.
