Hi there, My name is Tracey Reitz, and I am an aussie living in middle hessen. I live about 45 mins due west of Marburg. I have started an english speaking group/club in the last month or so. We have met for the first time last friday:) If there is anyone living north of Frankfurt, east of Siegen, south of Kassel and west(ish) of Fulda, then please stay in touch, and lets arrange to keep in contact/meeting up:) <i don't really see very much for people within these parameters, and I am sure there are more of you around, perhaps even more aussies! I am also on facebook, and I have a page called 'english speakers in and around marburg'. It does sound like it is for people specifically in this area, but as i discovered people from further away are expressing their interest in connecting and staying in touch with one another. the meeting was held in a little pub in Biedenkopf, and it went so well.
I am reaching out to people in this large area of Hessen because I want people out there to know there is a place to chill out with other native and non native english speakers. For those who have settled, it is a great opportunity to network and expand your social calender, and for those who are struggling with integrating, come along and hear from others who share similar experiences to your own:) We meet up to be ourselves, sharing laughter, fun, support. It is a positive environment, and a place where you would feel most welcome. A place where you can belong, here in Germany.
