English-speakers living in/around St. Wendel

Anyone else here? I love it, but feel isolated.

My boyfriend and I moved here in January for his job -- we're both American journalists, 35 and 28, struggling to learn German. We'd look forward to some English-speaking company in St. Wendel the area (basically the Saarbrucken area) for some hikes, some eats and drinks -- hell, sitting around a pub for 10 hours sounds great too. We are just a little starved for company! And we suspect there are great things to be discovered here, we're just not savvy enough to have discovered them.

Not sure if any of these people are still around but might be worth you contacting a couple of them.

If any of you folk are interested there are other English speakers contemplating a get-together in Trier towards the end of the month. Take a look at that post if you'd be interested. It's not so far and there's no concrete plan so far.

Here's the link to the English-speakers in or around Trier

Hi! Just so you know - Baumholder has a huge American military community & it's about 45 minutes from you. I live in Birkenfeld (about 20 minutes) which also has a decent sized American population living in & around the city, as does Idar-Oberstein. Kaiserslautern/Ramstein/Landstuhl (? Distance) has more American Military - along with the Brits & Canadians.

Also, if you are ever looking for english speaking people - you can ALWAYS try an Irish Pub... everyone speaking english tends to go there (I know we do in every country).

Let me know if you would like to come down to Birkenfeld - I would be glad to hang out on the weekend & I talk a lot (which my friends/husband can verify!).
