Hey everyone,
I would like to begin organizing a trip to either Innsbruck or Vienna to view some of the World Ice Hockey Championships in Austria. Should be a great tournament this year because it looks like the NHL season is over meaning we should get some world class players on every team, much like the World Cup of Hockey or the Winter Games.
First, here is the website link in English:
http://web1.icehockey2005.com/Games begin on April 30th and the final is May 15th.
I being from Canada will obviously want to see our nation play. Canada plays against Latvia, then Slovakia, and finally the US in the first round. We all know the best game will obviously be Canada vs US. This match is on 5th of May and it is in Innsbruck.
Who would be interested in going? Looks like we will have to start booking tickets very soon as many of the tickets are already gone. Has anyone else organized tickets or are they planning on going?

I'd love to join for Canada vs. US on May 5th. I was in Calgary during the NHL playoffs last year and got addicted. Let me know when you're organizing tichets.

This year should be quite a spectacle with the NHL players being available for their respective teams. I would definitely be interested in going so please keep me updated.

I am definitely up for the US vs Canada game! I can brag that I watched more pro hockey games than my friends in the US this year!

What's the plan for a trip? Just drive down before the game and drive back after, or stay a few days for a few games? I have classes then, so I'd have to know the length of stay.

Driving there and back in a day would be the sensible option. It is not too far away (well Innsbruck isn't at any rate)...
Would like to see the Czechs or Russians

Probably driving there would be the best option. 1.5 hours to Innsbruck from Munich. Get a bunch of people going together in several vehicles. Was just looking at the site in more detail and it really looks like most games are nearly sold out.
Who is interested for the Canada / US game on May 5th? This is the match I really want to attend the most.

I emailed the ticket administrators for the tournament to ask for the tickets, to see if they are sold out. This match was not even listed two months ago either which was really strange. Will let you know once they reply.

As mentioned before, if there are still tickets available for the Canada/US game I am 100% in.
Unfortunately I can't help with transportation.

Posted on the IIHF Website:
There are some exceptions: At the moment the packages 11 (with RUS-AUT), 15 (with BLR-AUT), 19 (with AUT-SVK), 22 (with USA-CAN) and 53 (with the final games) are NOT available!

ooh, May 5th is Ascension day, so the first of a 4 day weekend. Maybe we could combine this with a walking trip or something?
I'm up for it, anyway

Not intrested in walking, for me this is a beer swilling hockey road trip.
For those that want to go walking, have fun.

My husband is a hockey rep and has to attend all games if you have a problem getting tickets let me know he might be able to help. They wouldn't be free but cheaper than scalpers...

I am planning on driving to Innnsbruck on Saturday to see Team Canada, and have two open seats. Anyone interested in going down for the game, send me a PM. Leave here around 13:00 come back after the game.
Well I'll say this much for Latvians, they don't mind driving.
"Attendance at today's game 8000. 7400 from Latvia, 500 from Denmark, 75 from Canada, and 25 from some place called Suomi."
Tickets were no problem, but it was Latvia...
