I'd love to go, but I've got a final on that Monday or Tuesday, then another on Thursday. Stupid school getting in the way of skiing...

Feb 1 2005, 11:29 am
oooh, yes please! But only if we:
- ski on Saturday
- start skiing at 9 and leave around 3.30
then we can avoid the traffic and get back in time for a kip and a shower... and to put on our costumes for the Rocky Horror Night!
No point planning Sunday as we're bound to get wasted and be out clubbing in suspender belts until the early hours
PS love the logo, maybe we should get XXXXXL T-Shirts made and put them over our jackets, to find each other?
I vote for a neon pink one for Canuck, so we can find him in the woods and when he's buried in snow...

this time nothing is gonna keep me from coming along!
please count me in! can't wait to go skiing again!
JB, i like the idea about the t-shirts! still wont be easy to find canuck though if goes of pist again

also love the logo and would be up for skiing (if we won't miss rocky horror)
JoolyBooly
Feb 1 2005, 12:39 pm
@ CodeRed, did you guys post the video of Canuck "falling off a cliff" yet? I sooo wanna see that!
maybe Gids' idea of silly hats is easier to organise, but I love that logo!
Oh! And 3 lions has to come, as he can show any newbies how to go faster using his whipping trick

if there's a sign-up, maybe one should do a sign-up sheet, like done for curry nights. and agree with JB, traffic on sunday is madness. i'm up for sat. too.
has anyone been brauneck?
butterbean
Feb 1 2005, 12:52 pm
oooh, i might be up for this!
but will likely need a ride, i had to cancel my snow tire appointment because my car is buried in the snow. the epitome of lame, i know.
would need to rent...

lengriss is shite imho. way too long lift queues, and half the runs are not long enough. as for sign up sheet, oh bugger that would be way to efficient and organised and german. i much prefer the chaos we had last time, it made everything feel cosy and warm and inviting...
CodeRed
Feb 1 2005, 1:16 pm
@jb: No, unfortunately he didnt warn us prior to falling down that cliff so there was no time to take out the camera. Actually that one looked quite scary - we were pretty happy nothing major happened. Looking back though, taping that stuff would have been priceless.
Mental note: Get a helmet before going next time.
JoolyBooly
Feb 1 2005, 1:18 pm

yes, chaos rules!
But seriously, EditorBob only allows sign-ups for big events by sponsors (like Haggis at the Arc), or for regular events like the
curry night.
How about Söll and around there? I guess it doesn't make sense to decide location until the weather reports nearer the time.. it has been known for a Fön to whizz thru at 18 degrees and melt all the lower resorts...
PS @ CodeRed...Mental note should actually read: NEVER go skiing with canuck when he has spent all of lunchtime murmering "hmmm, trees..."
CodeRed
Feb 1 2005, 1:20 pm
btw: FlyGuy will provide us with the material this evening, so maybe canuck or me can post it then.

at home... Arwen has probably banned him from going out as he's bound to try to play in the snow, and end up ice skating or cycling into every tree in Munich...
best SMS I received yesterday? (and believe me, there were many to choose from..)
"ouch...tree ;o)"

would never do this!
probably a good idea though
will have to see...

Feb 1 2005, 4:11 pm
I just saw this thread now.

Only one comment...my arm is healing up nicely. I'll be ready to ski again once I patch up the huge hole in the bottom of my ski.
Neon pink is fine with me...it could be better than gold/beige/yellow??
JoolyBooly
Feb 1 2005, 4:15 pm
oh yeah, i forgot about that! Can you get it fixed? It was soo deep, you could see the metal base of the ski! Like seeing bones in a cut! Poor skis. You'll have to give them to me, I'll give them a more loving home

why the hell are we at work?! Let's all take tomorrow off and go powder bashing
@ canuck we should talk to the frankfurt ski club about their trips in march and april (as discussed with Fergus last night), could be an easy way to get accommodation...

Have we decided which day yet? Tom17 is organising Karting for the Sunday 20th, so if we do this then it will have to be the 19th?
JoolyBooly
Feb 8 2005, 12:10 pm
for me it's the 19th or nothing, as even without karting, we'll never get out of bed after the rocky horrow debacle to ski the next day...

Feb 8 2005, 12:29 pm
Since there is no 6 Nations on that weekend, i am happy to go either day and will be definately be there with car.

Feb 8 2005, 12:35 pm
Saturday would be better for many reasons. Just have to leave early enough to miss the weekly change-over traffic (Cloggies, Preussen etc.)
JoolyBooly
Feb 8 2005, 12:44 pm
ooh, good point. are the cloggies coming down that week? Was hoping they'd all be leaving as we're coming...
Jeeves
Feb 8 2005, 12:46 pm
Hadn't checked their school holidays. But don't cloggies come down every week?
Edit: now I have checked and you are right, the school hols finish that weekend.
Owain Glyndwr
Feb 8 2005, 1:12 pm
saturday traffic will be bad that weekend, especially coming back. If we leave early enough on the saturday (ie 6:30-6:45am) heading down won' t be too bad. And because it is a change-over weekend the lifts should be relatively quiet. pros and cons.

Feb 8 2005, 1:13 pm
Have we decided where we are going?
Owain Glyndwr
Feb 8 2005, 1:17 pm
doesn't look like it. to be honest, i don't really care, although i would prefer somewhere new. I have not been to any of the Skt Antons or to Ischgl.
gideon
Feb 8 2005, 1:17 pm
i have to hold on the descision, as i dont think oscar will be able to ski that weekend. so whether i can come and whether i have the car or not is all a bit schwamig.
Jeeves
Feb 8 2005, 1:25 pm
@OG I agree. In fact the reason that the lifts are relatively quiet would be my reason FOR going on Sat.
As for a venue, well I'm not worried either. Both St Anton & Ischgl are a bit far for a day trip IMHO. Perhaps Söll/Scheffau? Haven't been there in the winter for years. Easy to lose each other there though (although some might say that's not a bad thing
Owain Glyndwr
Feb 8 2005, 1:35 pm
I used to go regularly to Scheffau (Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser). A very good Ski resort inmvo, due to the way all the areas are inter-connected. Although, if we are a big group, there is no point in even trying to stick together, cos there are so many directions you can head off in. Best thing to do would be to find one or two like minded skiing buddies to stick with and then meet up for lunch and apres ski.
Jeeves
Feb 8 2005, 1:54 pm
FYI a day pass there costs EUR 32
Owain Glyndwr
Feb 8 2005, 2:16 pm
price has gone up then. i think i used to pay about €26. but then the prcies seem to have gone up everywhere.
Jeeves
Feb 8 2005, 2:18 pm
I think it's okay compared to the 29 we paid last time coz it's for a larger area.

Hmm, New Toytown logo and the Toytown snow logo, looks very similar, recon there's a bid a copyright infringment going on there

- ok also a bit similar to the touch rubgy logo but...

nope. Gideon has given his ok for it to be used.

If you know the costs approx, please let me know?

(ok it's a crap smilie, but it's called "return of the ski dude" so it had to be done)
I'll be there (anywhere near Owain's nice big, comfy, safe car

)
can't wait... the UK is keeping up its image in my book, of managing to be colder than Munich without the benfit of snow...
