Won't vote til I know later in the week, if I can make it or not, as might be skiing that weekend. So, I don't want to mess up the numbers unless I can partake.

I'll be coming, but I'll be going skiing in the daytime so will probably only arrive at about 8:30pm

I am working these days in Hannover so won't be able to attend.
I'll more than likely be there. Will let you know for sure closer to the time.

Count me in please! Over 30's drinks were good so hope this is too!

Feb 7 2005, 11:32 am
I've pencilled it in and should be able to make it - hope so, anyway. Will probably turn up at eightish (but no later than that), my excuse being nothing quite as impressive as smartini's skiing, just a humble deadline for work dangling over my head...
look fwd to it and thanks for organizing it, nicky.

Same here roots. Am interested, but it's too far ahead to plan, I have no idea what I am doing at the moment ! Just far too many events coming up.

Feb 7 2005, 11:47 am
I might show up as well, but don't know yet.
I don't actually get back from the UK until that afternoon, so it depends whether flight is on time, if boyf has plans for that evening or not, etc etc...
I'd like to come, though - it is in
Neuhausen, after all

go on, then, roots, be as good as your word this time. Though I'm not quite sure why this bias towards triplechocolate, car'mel and martini, when there's also pepper on the menu? It couldn't possibly be a - heaven forbid! - gender-biased predilection?
UpQuark
Feb 7 2005, 6:56 pm
I'm in.
Can't make it, as I will be skiing that day with the Skiclub then drinking heavily afterwards! I don't think you want 4 drunk women at the table!

Have I backed out on my word before hon?
While I could eat, slurp, lick, suck on all the previously mentioned delicacies, there isn't much I could do with a little pepper shaker (sorry mike) is there? ofcourse I am biased.

So many unmade up minds!!! The aftermath of Fasching ... Anyway so far we have one certain, one certain to come later on and around six not yet sure's plus myself.
We could have a poll on whether to do it or not, but as I am sick of polls I shall reserve a table for eight, tell the restaurant to keep it for half-an-hour and see who turns up. At least I'll get a nice dinner.
So - final call - for Chao Praya!

Nicky, just curious, why do you want confirmations 10 days before? isn't it too early for most to commit?

@roots
methinks you'd declared an ardent interest in savouring the, uhm, un-peppered part of the 30+ menu before but were only kidding at the time. Humble apologies if I'm confusing you with other wannabe-30somethings

. Hope you can make it, anyway.
@nicky
unless Chao Praya have warned that they're already pretty full for that Sat., why not give it a couple more days? There seemed to be a lot of interest when you first posted the thread; perhaps some of those who said that only that Sat. was good for them will post in the meantime to say whether they're coming or not.
The 26th is still OK with me, at any rate, if it makes things easier for Topsy, Smartini, Carmen &c.

You got me confused with someone else? I thought my identity on this board is unmistakable

No need to apologize. Unless I have to visit Uncle Sam (which seems like a possibility), I really hope to make it to this event.

Oh but roots darlin', there are
so many young TTers out there just
dying to be 30-something - the dazzle of the first (and second, and umpteenth) grey hair, the glamour of the first (and second, &c.) wrinkle - it's perfectly understandable, of course, who in their right mind would like to be 20-something...
Nicky
Feb 9 2005, 8:29 pm
I'm told that this restaurant is very popular so wanted to reserve in good time. However, I think we should stick to the 19th to simplify matters. I shall simply reserve a table for 8-10 people, send out a couple of reminders and see who comes along. I'm sure there'll be a crowd.
Nicky
Feb 9 2005, 11:44 pm
So ...
Table reserved for 19th for eight at Chao Praya:
Smartini - coming later on
Tara - yes
Pepper - maybe
Madgibson - yes
Triple choc - maybe
Roots - maybe
Topsy - maybe
Upquark - yes
Me - yes
I will increase the number if there are more definite yes's. Otherwise we'll just have to squash up a bit if necessary.
Table reserved under "Toytown" (try Toytowel - bit of Asian difficulty with the "n",if in doubt).
Think about what you might want to do after dinner - clubbing, whatever.
Nicky
Feb 9 2005, 11:44 pm
Sorry - for eight persons for 7.30 pm!
roots
Feb 14 2005, 7:06 pm
Nicky, I am sorry I need to go to the US tomorrow so can't make it to this event.
@triple_choc
Sorry again. If I am in town for the next one, I promise to make it.

Hey Nicky. Count me in... hardly been on the scene the last weeks.

Feb 14 2005, 7:43 pm
Never mind, roots. We'll have a drink for you. OK? Anyone else want to join us?
triple choc
Feb 15 2005, 1:37 pm
Nicky, I'll confirm by Friday a.m. at the latest, whether I can make it or not, but I think I should manage. Besides Chao Praya is supposed to be one of the best Thais in Munich.
@ roots
shame...

. Have a good trip, though, and go easy on triple-choc sundaes with car'mel sauce

.
... But I see that Shaggy, whose birth (according to his TT CV) marked Napoleon's downfall, will be joining us. Might be time we renamed the event from 30+ to x30...

oops, I meant to confirm further up. So please change that 'maybe' to 'CU all there', 8ish, as I said in my first post. Thanks.

Feb 16 2005, 1:37 pm
What's the nearest Ubahn station to the restaurant?
Jeeves
Feb 16 2005, 1:58 pm
Rotkreuzplatz is just nearer than Maillingerstrasse, but you have to cross the Mittlerer Ring at lights which can take a while
triple choc
Feb 16 2005, 7:39 pm
here, Tara, there's a map at the URL below (from the previous 30s+ night out, in fact, where I'd suggested Chao Praya as an alternative).
By the way, what an amazing degree you've done (spotted it in Kza's thread)! I don't doubt for a bit that it's not the kind of thing that would ever fetch you buckets of money, but it sounds fascinating.

Feb 17 2005, 10:59 am
@Nicky- Can you plus 1 me? Dragging along a German friend...
Nicky
Feb 17 2005, 11:50 am
Shaggy, just come along early with your friend (can I speak German to your friend?)
Everyone, I was at Chao Praya for dinner with a friend yesterday - food was delicious. They made it extra spicy at our request.
Table is reserved for eight persons under Toytown and is the big table beside the bar - go thru the restaurant to get to it.
I think eight is about right - sorry - I just can't keep precise track of all the maybes and cans and now can'ts. I am sure it will work out - the table looks like it might seat more than eight anyway.
Look forward to seeing everyone again - glad you can come, Topsy.
Tara
Feb 17 2005, 12:14 pm
Nicky,
I did a quick count for you and it is presently 13 people, so we may need a bigger table.
Here is who is coming
Nicky
Tara
Shaggy plus 1
Topsy
Upquark
Jeeves
Triple Choc
Pepper
Smartini
Madgibson
Romanpry
Ravski
have I forgotten anyone?
Shaggy
Feb 17 2005, 1:15 pm
I agree... bigger table makes sense rather than risking disappointing the late comers...
@Nicky... yep..German, English, French or Norwegian... take your pick
Nicky
Feb 17 2005, 1:18 pm
Ok - I'll change and reserve for 12 (promise!), although some of those on the list are still maybe's, but who cares. We can stretch out or eat two dinners...
Nicky
Feb 17 2005, 1:24 pm
Faite accomplie - table reserved for TWELVE to THIRTEEN people - woman is very nice. I'm sure there will be no problems.
Katrina
Feb 17 2005, 2:12 pm
They are very nice in there! I haven't said yet what I'm doing as am not sure what am doing (am at football first, might be frozen-through!) but if I do turn up I shall be there early enough for it hopefully not to be a problem (live approx 100m from the restaurant!).
Nicky
Feb 19 2005, 5:18 pm
Hope to see everyone later. Katrina too? A hot Thai curry is just the thing if you're frozen.
roots
Feb 19 2005, 5:42 pm
ummmm...hot Thai curry. Yummy. Love it.
Here are a couple of things you could say to impress them to get good food and service.
Greet them with Sawadee khrap (hello), appreciate the food with Arroy (delicious), and thank them with Kop Khun kha
Have a good time.
P.S: I am a sucker for Thai Chicken fried rice. If someone tries it tonight please post feedback. Thanks
