Does anyone have a listing of the 2009 running events in Munich? Or a website to direct me to? It would be MUCH appreciated!

Anyone know of a trailrunning site in Germany or Europe? Lots of them back home in the States but I can't seem to find any here. Strange. Would love to look for a 25 km race offroad somewhere in this part of the planet. Thanks.

http://www.lauftreff.de/laeufe/laufkalender.html this is the calendar of the webpage Lauftreff, unfortunately in german, but one can understand what is meant. They list lots of different running events, sorted by Postleitzahl (PLZ), which is the Post code.

Hi Wunnspeed,
Try taking a look at www.walkjogrun.net - it works with google maps, and either you can look up runs other people have already tracked out in your area, or you can work out your own, taking whichever route you want. The site tells you distance, time per km, and also approx. calories burnt! It can be a bit slow at times, but its a good site! I find it really useful. Hope that helps.

I tought with "offroad" you meant organized events like a cross country race. You you meant running alone - or in a small group - through the woods?

You have probably already found this: crosslauf

Largest in Europe (according to their website): Rennsteiglauf

Lots of the cross-country ski races seem to be partnered with cycle and running races, I think the Dolomitenlauf, Ski-trail and Engadine ski marathons all have something equivalent in the summer.

Good morning!

I will be in Munich from 10 March through 18 March and have every intention of bringing my running shoes. I hope to run in the Englischer Garten.

I wanted to pick up some fun German running shirts and wondered where are some of the best running shops in Munich? I am familiar with inTeam Laufshop and hope to visit there. I am just not sure if they speak English... und, mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut.

Vielen dank!

Nike are holding a Human Race 10km event this afternoon in the Englischer Garten.
Starts 3pm from Haus der Kunst and entry is free.
Plus you get a free t-shirt (limited numbers).
Info here.
There's about 500 runners taking part, at least that was about the number signed up yesterday.

My running races planned for the next 2 months:
Tomorrow 25th Oct Eibseelauf, near Garmisch, 12 k (mountains!)

8th Nov Teufelsberglauf, 10k cross country race at Lochhausen (also 4.7k possible)

22th Nov Ostparklauf 10k at Ostpark (also 5 k possible)

I was contemplating the Ostparklauf, is it any good? The website is not very revealing and I am not sure how this bibchip thing works.

It's a rather small race (150 participants), and the track has one quite steep hill - so not ideal if you plan to get your new personal best time.
Last years results give you an idea about the average speed: Results

Never been myself, so I cannot personally recommend it.

The BiChip is integrated in the number you are going to get, so your race time gets registered automatically

The Nike one was nicely done through the Englischer Garten, but the route wasn't exclusive to racers which made it a bit hairy at times.
But hey, I'm not complaining - it was freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
And free drinks, bananas, muesli bars and a t-shirt to boot.

Runnersmap has been created by some guys of the forum laufen-aktuell.de (now belongs to runnersworld.de)

It's an interactive google map for running events. Events can be filtered by date and distance. It's quite complete for the Munich area as far as I've seen (everyone can enter new events). It's a great tool to plan your racing season!
