All this tactical fuel loads and these 'supersoft' tyres along with the KERs makes for a difficult time keeping up with it all. It did make for a more exciting spectacle though. Tactics will come into it until they all work out the optimal strategy.

I'll put my neck out here and say I think there will be at least 6 different winners this year.
Guy
Yeah, I think a laptop with the timing screen is pretty essential to knowing what's happening, although that was pretty much the case before, too. Would be good if they could find some way to denote tyre usage on it, and possibly which cars have KERS.

The BBC cockpit view didn't seem to have the graphics on it when it was on the red button, only if was shown on the main signal. That meant you were deprived of the KERS display for that car, the single most important piece of information on that graphic.

I'm sure that Hamilton will be happy with a 3rd place cos it can only be a brief matter of time before the other teams match Brawn's advance.

Can't help feeling that Vettel is a little hard done by for what I saw as a racing incident - after all, Kubica could have left him more room.
I've just read that he wasn't penalised for the crash, but for continuing to drive round with a damaged car:

"The German was penalised not for his late collision with Robert Kubica, but for failing to pull his damaged Red Bull to the side of the track when requested."
Guy
That applies to the cash fine. He was separately penalised 10 grid places for causing the accident.

Vettel and Red Bull penalised (correction)

In fact, the Sepang grid penalty was for his crash with BMW's Kubica with three laps to go, when stewards ruled that Vettel caused the incident, a somewhat harsh decision.

Just a cheeky though.

In the event of the Brawn team being shown to have broken the rules with their defuser then Hamilton will have won!

It won't happen though will it?
Allershausen
It would if he was driving for Ferrari.

looks like they've conspired against McLaren again to strip Hamilton of the podium finish

fishy?

Coming a day after Toyota say they won't question the decision because recent precedents say the decision is final. Yes.
Owain Glyndwr
I really feel sorry for McLaren. Moseley and FIA seem to do everything possible to make life hard for them especially when it favours Ferrari.
Timmeh
I don't think it's fishy at all, this is what Hamiltron said directly after the race:

“But he went off in the second to last corner, he went wide on the grass – I guess his tyres were cold – and I was forced to go by. I slowed down as much as I could.

“I was told to let him back past, but I mean...

“I don’t know if that’s the regulations, and if it isn’t, then I should have really had third.”
And if the radio comms back this up, as claimed, then he & McLaren deliberately misled the stewards and he deserves his penalty
Pas
As long as the rules are consistently applied then no problem. But they are not.
Guy
Speaking of rules, what happened to the decision to publish the reasons for stewards decisions?

FIA: F1 set for stewarding update

To improve transparency, a short CV of each steward will be posted on the FIA website before each Grand Prix. Following the race, a short written explanation of steward's decisions will be published on the FIA website. This will supplement the formal steward's decision which largely defines the breach of the rules.
Silly Point
I still don't get how he has misled the stewards. He has stated that he let Trulli re-overtake him during the safety car phase. What's misleading about that?. Basically it seems that he is being ounished for letting soneone pass him, when he needn't have done so.
Timmeh
I think it was because in the initial FIA hearing Hamiltron/McLaren claimed that the move was an overtaking move on Trulli's part, under yellows, and not ceded voluntarily, as it seems to have turned out to be with the stewards review of the comms data.
