Tourist tips for visiting Leipzig

My husband is going to Leipzig next week for work for two days and I thought I would go with him to see the town. Any recommendations on what to see, where to go on a free afternoon?

I usually enjoy walking around the town centre. Nice buildings, cafes and shopping. From the main train station head for the Rathause ("Town Hall"). Have at look the Nikolai Kirche the starting point of the "revolution" which re-united Germany. Also visit Thomas Kirche if you're a fan of Bach.

Well, it is twinned with Birmingham which is a major shit hole.

I was really disappointed by Leipzig, I went there looking for fucked up decay, but instead got a small Munich.

Go to Bayerischer Bahnhof or Ohne Bedenken and drink a Gose. It's beer made with salt and coriander. Lovely stuff. Sinfonie is another nice watering hole.

Or even better go right past Leipzig and stop at Dresden.

I think the bombers did that.

Just had a very enjoyable lunch in the Panarama Restaurant in Leipzig. Great views - highly recommended.
