Friday night jazz jam sessions at Dammtor Bahnhof - Hamburg

Just a note to spread the word about the best kept musical secret in Hamburg - the Jazz jam sessions every Friday night in Nancy's Gallerie in the Dammtor Bahnhof (Dammtor Railroad Station) 5 minutes from the center of Hamburg. Nancy is an American painter who loves music and hosts these Jam sessions in her gallery every Friday starting at 10 PM and she invites the best musicans in Hamburg to take part. There is no entrance charge (you can tip the musicans if you like) and the beer and wine is very reasonable. Jazz musicians from the local scene drop by regularily as well as visiting musicans from all over Germany and Europe. Check Nancy's Gallerie out, you won't find a more authentic music scene in the city.

This week on Friday night (06.02.09) at Nancy's Gallerie the Jerry Tilitz Trio is featured with Andreas Bunning (bs) and Hendrik Meyer (guit). The concert starts at 22 Uhr and is free.

The next week Friday (13.02.09) features Christoph Oeding (guit) and Joachim Gerth (bs). Again at 10 PM.

These jazz sessions take place EVERY Friday night at 10 PM. No cover.

Good Friday night (this week, April 11th, 2009) the wonderful guitarist Tina Jäckel is featured at the gallery. The session starts at 10 PM and there is no entrance charge.

They are!

The concerts are going strong every Friday night. Lots of folks drop by for the relaxed atmosphere and a chat, not to mention the good music. Different Hamburg musicans are invitied to jam each Friday at 10 PM. While you're there check out Nancy's paintings and drawings and maybe even arrange for a portrait (Xmas is just around the corner ;-) ). No cover charge and the drinks are cheap - what else could you want?
