Hi
"Un long dimanche de finçailles" ("A very long engagement") starts showing in Germany today.
Theatriner Kino in the Theatrinerstr. will be showing it *in French*.
Showtimes here.
Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("...Amélie Poulain", "La cité des enfants perdus", "Delicatessen"...) it stars Audrey Tautou ("...Amélie Poulain").Plot outline.
I'd like to see it in French (it will have German subtitles on this copy though), does anyone want to come along?
Probably would be on this Monday, 31st January 2005 at 8:30pm.

Could prob do another day, Tuesday is football though. I really want to see this, looks fab. Might go and see "Von Suchen und Finden der Liebe" straight after work. Am in a film mood and that looks fantastic.

I do as well, I'm booked all week next week, though sad.gif
what's it called in german? I checked the prog but couldn't see it
Katrina
"Mathilde", it is at the bottom of the page.
Topsy
well, what a ridiculous name - I saw that and I didn't even click on it, thought it must be that Roald Dahl thing.

I want to see it as well but not with German subtiltles. I understand a fair bit of French but not enough to go without subtiltles and I've found that my German reading skills aren't as fast as the subtitles that flash up... sad.gif
Katrina
Even the copy showing at Cinema is French with German subtitles, I'm afraid. Museum isn't showing it yet.

I guess I'll be waiting for the DVD then... sad.gif

I'd love to come along at some point. Monday would do me, or in fact any night apart from Wednesday or Thursday wink.gif would do me fine.
kathie
If I don't come along, are more people interested then?
Katrina
I've knackered my back due to a fall at work last Thursday and have been off sick until now. Am not sure if back will stand day of sitting at work plus sitting at cinema (lying in bed much more suitable). sad.gif
kathie
Oh, get well soon Katrina! We need you back on your feet by Thursday!

I love Jeunet films; Amelie, Delicatessen, City of Lost Children (my fave!), even Alien 4 wink.gif

I would like to see this film but would enjoy it more with English subtitles (my French is much better than my German but not that good!).

Do you think they'd eventually show it with English subtitles/French language?
triple choc
uhm, of course it's all Geschmackssache, as the Germans say, but I found the film too long and the plot unnecessarily convoluted.

Of course this might have something to do with the fact that I had to stretch my neck and brain to see and make sense of the German subtitles respectively, but the friend who came along is French, and she too had trouble making sense of the, uhm, denouement (or even, le dénouement).

Anyway.

Has anyone seen "2046" by the way? It's also pretty long and with German subtitles, so I'm shilly-shallying about whether to go tomorrow or not...
Katrina
Really want to see 2046 - where is it on at?
triple choc
2046

well, the OmU is on at the NEUES ARENA (Hans-Sachs-Str. 7 T. 2603265) at 22:30 and the - presumably dubbed - version is on at CITY-KINOS 1-3 + ATELIER 1+2 (Sonnenstr. 12 T. 591983 T. Atelier: 591918).

If I'm feeling reasonably awake tomorrow I may brave the late viewing at the N. ARENA (can't STAND dubbed films!), so, Katrina, and any other doughty TTs out there, watch this space; I'll post again if I'm going.

went to see Mathilde last night...it's a great film, would really recommend it.
the plot's a bit twisty and turny though...keeps one on one's toes.
