Any of the over-thirties interested in another get-together after the Fasching celebration? Possible dates 12 or 19 February. Also suggestions for location. I would say, not Persian, not Afghanistan cos we've done those and not Indian because there are enough curry nights. Any ideas? Anyone know a good Thai place?

I would be keen, but I can't make either of those dates

I could make the 26th, though.
Location - try Vecchia Masseria (not sure of spelling, it's nr Sendligner tor on mathildenstr.) - it's a lovely place, I was there last sautrday

Yep very nice reasonably-priced Italian with a nice atmosphere and a server who knows how to keep the ladies in the wine

Of course if you over stay your welcome...you will get kicked out...9 bottles later
As for Thai, the nicest place I have been so far is Bangkok Haus/House near Hofbräuhaus. Nice food and ambience. Good for a group if reservations are made in advance. I am sure there are tons of good ones I don't know about though.
I would love another over 30's night...but those dates are a no-go for me as well. We are moving and February is getting busy already.

same for me, later in Feb would be cool. And if you want Thai, I agree with BlimeyGirl.. also "Kuntuk" in Amalienstrasse just behind the Uni is excellent. Otherwise Chao Praya (Türkenstrasse and also Nymphenburger Strasse) is very authentic, but not so atmospheric (except the Türkenstrasse branch is great later on, they have Thai karaoke!).

Ooops - sorry! I didn't see that you'd asked for Thai recommendations, Nicky. Don't know anywhere Thai, sorry .

Bangkok Haus is the only good one I know in the center. There is a fantastic Thai restaurant in Starnberg though but I guess it is too far.

My favourite is
Yum Thai but probably not for a group. More of a couples thing. As was mentioned the other day, "
Ruen Thai" in Westend is great.

these age restrictive groups are now getting silly. I'm 29 (just) what if i want to go to an over 30's night, how about someone who is 28 who likes the company of older people

just kidding!

Eric the Hamster, you silly sod, drawing attention to yourself. 'Cos if we don't meet until the end of Feb, you will be a bona fide member!!

is that another vote for the 26th, then?

can those who can do the 19th also do 26th? Nicky? Tara?
JoolyBooly
Jan 26 2005, 12:35 pm
depends, of course, on whether the 26th will be reserved for EtH's initiation into the over 30's world... (i.e. he may have a party which will clash with this)

So you don't actually like us old bids? Well that's bloody charming, that is.

Can't do the 26th because I'm going to see the rather fabulous

I'm only in Munich every now and again, therefore only the 19th is possible for me.

ooh, lovely, another get-together for the (street)wise, been-there-done-that, vintage TT lot. Yep, looks like I should be able to manage the 26th, perhaps the 19th too.
Well, whoever fancies our distinguished, mature company's welcome, so far as I'm concerned. Not a GNO, by the way (if Eric the Hamster's the only bloke who comes along he'll be like an underage sheikh among a charmingly adult harem

).
I'm up for Thai, if that's the general consensus. Chao Praya and Kun Tuk both have a good reputation, but I've been to neither.

well if most people can make the 12th or the 19th, then I guess I'll miss the do again, and go next time

It's a shame, because I'd really like to go.

This is getting too complicated! I have added a poll and suggest we go with the majority vote? Then I'll read thru all the posts again and see how many want Thai and how many want Italian according to the chosen date. When I've got all that together we can book a table. OK? Thanks for all the recommendations, by the way. And "over thirties" in my interpretation means that the activity is aimed at this age-group, it doesn't mean youngsters can't join in. But be warned, Eric the Hamster, I have two hungry kitties here ...

Any date is OK with me, Thai sounds good, I am in Milan at end of Feb, so Italian would just not be as good !

we span a little midweek meet off from this thread, in case anyone noticed that a few posts suddenly disappeared...
basically we took brokenm up on his suggestion of meeting on the 2nd Feb,
details and discussion can be found hereit's not a substitute meet, it's complementary

Thai- there is one called Ginkgo or something similar on Moriastr by the Patentamt, very good and not as expensive at Chao Praya and Bangkok Haus. There is also a Thai just off the
Viktualienmarkt, prices also not bad.
I know of a Vietnamese on Kirchen str called Hanoi, very nice, and an all you can eat buffet 6.90 per person evenings, haven't been in about 9 months, but think its still running.
Last week tried the new Chinese at Zweibruckenstr and Steindorferstr (by the Deutsches Museum) all you can eat buffet- with cooked to order seafood for 13.80 per person.
Just my two cents.

I'm pretty sure that I'm free that weekend. Don't care what we eat. I will be even more comfortably in my 30's by mid-February as I'll be turning 33.

Wow, aren't we oldies efficient! Looks like an overwhelming vote for the 19th. And for Thai.
