Bruce (or BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZ if you're a chanting Bavarian) is back!

There's a series of concerts with 2nd July being the stop in Munich (3rd July is Frankfurt Commerzbank Arena, 5th being Vienna) and while tickets are likely to be pricey, it is a good value ticket (if you like that kind of thing).
Hope I'm in such nick when I'm that old - because the last time I saw him play Olympiastadion with the E-Street Band it was a 3.5hrs no frills show.
Tickets are gold dust, but due to the length of the show, take seated if you get achey legs.

When eventim starts a Ticketalarm, you know the concert is organised and sales are about to start or see press for details.
SleeplessInMunich
Hmmm. I would love to see him but I know it will cost an arm and a leg.

If the prices for his solo acoustic tour are anything to by, it might be an idea to contact your bank manager about getting a loan to cover this.
UrbanAngel
I didn't think that the tickets for his solo accoustic tour were over-priced. That was in the Olympiahalle and was simply amazing, a very touching performance. The E Street band will certainly give it a different flavour though.
Jules Winnfield
I didn't go but know people that did, and yes, they said it was amazing. However if one man and his guitar set you back €80 (IIRC), you can imagine what a concert with a full band will cost...
UrbanAngel
That was for the gig a few years back? I honestly don't remember paying that much! Maybe I got cheapo seats :S
Katrina
The Olympiahalle gig was fantastic. I am always amazed by how far people travel for his gigs, there were lots of people from Northern Italy at the last one.
Yes it will be pricey, but treat yourself. From memory, the solo and E Street gigs cost about the same.
pjm
Did he not tour last summer with the E street band?
Rumours that he is playing Glastonbury, so it probably makes sense to throw in a few more gigs this side of the water
BigEnglish2009
I must say that I would rather sit and watch some paint dry than go to see this guy...Depeche Mode, that will be the gig of the year.
Eck Spatz
Sorry, but no, U2 in summer (hopefully) will be the gig of the year.
pjm
Oh Lord help us and save us from Bono and his innane witterings and his (post Achtung Baby) crap music

I paid 75 for the last concert he did with the E Street band (2003 Olypiastadium), I would pay up to 120 to see him again. Was an awesome show! And worth the money.

You can already order tickets from Eventim (by phone) ...I got two on Friday...very decent seats for about eur100 each.. . heck in NY you'd pay more for seats like this...if you could even get them. I cant wait!!! BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCEEEEEEE

Hi ,

I have 4 tickets for the Bruce Springsteen concert , 77 euro's a ticket , please let me know if you have any interest
chrisVT
I have 2 spare tickets for the concert at the Olympic Stadium.
[Innenraum - Stehplatz]
Face value is €77 per ticket.
I'd be willing to give them away for €50 each!
idotoytown
We got forwarded an email at work advising us to get there on time as there will be no support and he started at 7.40 in Berne.
gordonthemoron
That's what he usually does
fraufruit
No opening band then?
3 Lions
It's Bruce Springsteen, he doesnt need one.
fraufruit
Most good bands don't need one yet still use them to warm up the crowd and so they don't have to perform so long.

Just wondering what time I need to be sitting on the hill with my cooler full of Augis and my €77 firmly in my pocket.

I never get excited about anything ever, but I am genuinely excited about tonight's concert. I just wanted to share that with you, because I can.

The Boss rocks . . . I saw him at Dodger Stadium a few years back . . . Sad I'm going to miss the show in Munich.
jamie
Anyone know what sort of stage set up will be used? Where the stage will be positioned for example?
Oh yeah nearly forgot... BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!

I presume that it will be at the North end like usual
Mel-H

gordonthemoron
well, even if you manage to find the hill (it's the big one opposite the entrance), you still won't be able to see Bruce
jamie
Here is a webcam shot from yesterday showing the stage.

I'm just wondering if ChrisVT sold his tickets or not? I want them!!
3 Lions
He did

The last time I saw Springsteen he performed for 3 hours! I believe this is pretty common for him.
gordonthemoron
so the stage appears to be against the eastern stand
jamie
I just hope that BR Wetter is as wrong as it usually is. The rain and thunder they forecast hasn't materialized yet.
fraufruit
There are a few hills around and you cannot see him - just enjoy the live music. If he were more attractive...

Bruce Report

He is over there doing sound checks as I type. A whole 'nother league from the Tollwood music I've had the privilege of listening to the last days.

From my overlook - thunder and some wind getting up. The dark clouds seem to be blowing away.
fraufruit
Arm chair weatherwoman report -

The dark skies thunder and lightening in in the south seems to be slowly moving to the west. Could miss Olymiapark altogether. Or not. Bring rain gear.
gordonthemoron
well it didn't rain, and Bruce was very good, if not quite loud enough
3 Lions
I thought it was plenty loud enough...or I'm just getting too old?

Brilliant, brilliant concert, thanks ChrisVT for the tickets.

Just a late FYI to anyone who didn't go because of a lack of ticket, there were loads being sold outside the U-Bahn and the stadium for less than their face value.

I agree 100% with GordonTheMoron. The sound system was woefully inadequate from where I was in the standing area. It took probably about 4 songs into the show to actually be able to recognise and adjust to the music, as it just sounded like an echoey din. If Bruce and his band hadn't looked so effortlessly great on the screens then I would have been hugely disappointed. My friend next to me commented: "When are they going to turn it up?", and later I observed that rather than spend 77 Euro, one would probably have got just as much value by standing outside the venue on the hill.

I'm sure it was plenty loud enough for the few thousand that could fit around the front of the stage, but for the majority I should say it was not. Perhaps I am just too young!
sarabyrd
If you want loud, go to Tollwood. UB-40 was clearly audible, word for word and note by note, 50m away from the concert tent with the doors closed. Springsteen was hardly to be heard from the bike lane across the lake from the stadium.
gordonthemoron
Primal Scream next week at Backstage, so loud it will make your ears bleed (or something like that), can't wait
fraufruit
We stationed ourselves on the grassy knoll above the stadium and couldn't hear anything. Then we went right next to the stadium and couldn't hear any words. Of course there were hundreds just hanging out in the grass and having a social evening and they wouldn't shut up. Still it was a nice evening outside and I still don't know if I like The Boss or not. It did feel good to be so close to redneck greatness.

Oh that must have been terrible for you, you have my sympathy

I thought the line-up for Tollwood this year was awful, in fact, but that probably deserves to be on another thread.

That's more like it.

Ref - Bruce... I'm not complaining really. I'd never seen him and I did have a fun evening with friends. In general, I do like things much louder than normal. For example, I will always try and stand next to the speaker at smaller concerts. Each to their own, but I just wanted to give kudos to Gordon's comment.
sarabyrd

I heard ACDC at home (2km as the crow flies) with the doors and windows closed.
The Süddeutsche Zeitung was pretty happy, saying that the studio Springsteen is at best mediocre but Springsteen live is the cat's meow.
