Been out the last 2 Sundays to Christlum in Austria and going there this Sunday for the final time with Gideon & Owain Glwyndor.
Christlum Home PageAnyone else fancy joining us, we leave at about 7am and usually get there well ahead of the crowds at around 8.30am
If people want to come, they need to get someone with a car as Gideons car is full. Everyone is more than welcome.

Yet another place I have never heard of...Austria has so many resorts its amazing!
I have an allergy to queues and drag lifts - what's the score in Christlum? (the piste map is low res on the website so cannot see what is a drag and what is a chair!)
Found a better map - 7 drags, 3 chairs and 20km of mixed slopes.

queues so far have been none existant. drag lifts are there but not long enough to get worried about.

it was a very pleasant location, actually, perfect for a group of mixed abilities on a day trip. very family friendly, also beginner friendly. Short or no waiting times at the lifts and in the Hütten.
Half-pipe for boarders and stuff as well.
If you are a black slope freak, this is not the place for you.

I'd join if I didn't have to go out of town for work...and if I had a car

Maybe on another trip...
Should be great with this amount of snow

. Too early to tell if i'm up for it though, prob think about it again in a couple of days.

i was going to go thurs or fri, but sunday looks best weather-wise so i'd love to join ya'll. can take one [or two if someone doesn't mind sitting in the very small back seat] with me. thule rack on top can fit snowboards, boots etc. but i'm not sure if it's long enough for skis.
gideon
Jan 26 2005, 11:26 am
i can still fit one pair of skis on my rack, and if necessary can fit the second rack on which will take a board (i think, but it depends on the bindings) or another 4 pairs of skis. it would just mean everybody meeting up at one place and "redistributing" or equipment.

Gids, are you in comm's with Graham? We have a cunning plan... Graham is offering to drive (as I, Canuck and Eric the Hamster are coming). But Arwen may come too if there's a place (and if her ribs stop hurting from snogging the snow in Garmisch last weekend). So then she'd need a space in your car (previously Graham's) and a ski wrack space. Would that be possible?
gideon
Jan 26 2005, 11:52 am
is god english?
such a cunning plan, put a tail on it and call it a fox!
ok by me, i'd suggest we all meet up at kens, as it is the centre of the universe.
so that would be my car full. 1 ski rack.
graham's (or OW to the newbies here) is then car full
and isabella has one normal space and one half space free with snowboard rack.

Not coming, just didn't want anyone to be confused.

Edit: Thanks, Izabella for the car space! Any chance I could get space for my skis on someone else's ski rack in case they don't fit in Izabella's Thule rack?

Jan 26 2005, 12:43 pm
looks like this trip is sorted.
We're off to Christlum with 3 cars,
there is one lickle space free for someone with no skis,
and there is a space on a waiting list for one person + one pair of skis in case arwen is still injured and backs out.
Ta da! Another TT event is born
So when do we meet, and where exactly is the centre of the universe? I thought it was at Friedenheimerstr.31 in Laim
3 Lions
Jan 26 2005, 12:45 pm
Centre of the Universe is Ottobrunnerstr 40 in Ramersdorf. Literally a minute away from the Autobahn.
JoolyBooly
Jan 26 2005, 12:50 pm
and how the buggery do we get there?
Does this make sense?
07:03 ab
Ostbahnhof München MetroBus 55
07:11 an Woferlstraße Waldperlach
07:11 ab Woferlstraße ca. 1 Minute (walking)
07:12 an Ottobrunner Straße 40 ca. 0,1 km
bloody hell, mean i have to leave home at 6.30am to meet at 7.12. Gids, are you driving through town from the West? And chance of a pick-up somehwhere en route?
Izabella
Jan 26 2005, 12:51 pm
backseat space is also taken for now... could possibly open up if tom can't get off work that day... see this post for updates
see ya'll sunday morning
3 Lions
Jan 26 2005, 12:51 pm
Thats correct and to make it even easier, the bus stop Woferlstraße is right in front of my apartment. So thats more like 3 second walk from the stop.
Izabella
Jan 26 2005, 12:56 pm
since i'll be driving there... can someone confirm [or help illuminate] these rather stupid directions from mapblast?
Start: Depart Herzogstraße 31, 80803 München on Herzogstraße (East) 0.3
1: Road name changes to Local road(s) < 0.1
2: Turn LEFT (North) onto Leopoldstraße [Münchner Freiheit] 0.2
3: Turn RIGHT (East) onto
Münchner Freiheit [Ungererstraße] 0.1
4: Road name changes to Ungererstraße 0.2
5: Turn RIGHT (South-East) onto Dietlindenstraße 0.2
6: Take Ramp onto B2R [Isarring] 4.2
7: Turn LEFT (South-East) onto Local road(s) < 0.1
8: Road name changes to ST2368 [Ottobrunner Straße] towards Rosenheim / Perlach 0.4
End: Arrive Ottobrunnerstraße 40, 81737 München

Jan 26 2005, 12:59 pm
well looking at the map, it's right next to the Insbrucker ring. So if you take the "Mittlerer Ring" from schwabing, thru Bogenhausen, and then down following signs for the A8 to Salzburg, it's easy as pie.

Jan 26 2005, 1:01 pm
JB your in liam, so i guess we could come to an arrangment. will ring you on your mobile later.
peps just need to check the ski situation. OW are you taking yours in your car, or do you want the on the rack?
at the moment its mine, oscar's, and yours so i've one more free space. more demand and i'll whack on second rack.
i'm at ken's at 6:45 and will leave sharpish, as oscar has to be at his course at around 9 am.

I'm not far from Ottobrunnerstraße so will go there by U-Bahn
3 Lions
Jan 26 2005, 2:00 pm
If you mean Innsbrucker Ring U-bahn, you're about 15 minutes away. Alternatively you can get the 55 from neuperlach Zentrum towards Ostbanhof and get off at Woferlstr, the stop is in front of my apartment right across the road.

Only just seen this thread. I should have time on Sunday and will certainly feel like skiing. I just don't have time for any organising of cars etc at the moment, so I'll just say I'll make my own way there and get back to you on Friday when I've got time.
Hmm I was thinking about doing some skiing this weekend too... Probably take my own car up if I do go since I live vaguely in the area.

I can also pick people up from Arabellapark U4 station as well.

Well, I couldn't quite follow that last post! Would that leave room for my skis if they didn't fit with Izabella's car? (aka can I call a spot on the ski rack?) Thanks either way!

as kens is a 15 min walk from the u-bahn it may be better to meet at the innsbrucker ring
U-Bahn station. i am realy anal about my timing and need to get there around about 8:30ish and can not wait around for stragglers. so could we make it there at 6:45 - 7:00 am? and does anybody know if we can park the cars there while we're waiting. (mr lions i'd pick you up on the way there)
Owain Glyndwr
Jan 26 2005, 3:47 pm
ok. sorted. I shall be at the Innsbrückerring at 06:45 sharpish. With 4 people in my car (ie myself plus 3 passengers), i can squeeze in mine plus one other pair of skis.

OK, as agreed by PM...
Gids is collecting ken from home and meeting us all at Innsbrucker Ring. Sorted!
The plan is to leave by 7. So it looks like this:
Gabi and Brad: you need to get to the Innbsrucker ring on the U5 arriving at 6.42. Then you'll be loading your skis on Gids' car, and when it's done whoever is there can jump in the car and go.
I'll get there at 7.02, Kev's train would arrive 7.03, we don't have skis so will just jump in Graham's car with whoever got left behind
So Graham and Izabella, hope this is clear enough! Leaving Innsbrucker Ring at 7.04 am, over and out

Okay so now it's all half settled I'll just stick my oar in briefly...
I'll give a definate yea or nay on Friday morning.
If it's a yea then I'll drive but as I have no ski rack there'll only be room for max 1 other.
