Shamrock - Irish pub in Munich-Schwabing

New opening hours, now closed Sunday and Monday

sarabyrd
The Shamrock in Trautenwolfstrasse has changed its opening hours and is now closed on Sunday and Monday, a sad loss to the Sunday afternoon soccer/football watching crowd after the demise of Günter Murphy's 18 months ago.

They have upped their activities on the other evenings, hosting karaoke Tuesday and Friday (keeps the costs for live acts down, of course), poker Wednesday and Thursday, a quiz on Thursday and live music on Saturday. Wednesday also is Student Night with special prices for those with student ID.

Happy New Year to all, hoping 2009 will bring you all you wish for... such as Sunday afternoon footy (or is it footie?) in the Shamrock.

Didn't want to miss the possibility of seeing Big Phil laying one on The Hairdryer's chin yesterday, and was slightly disgruntled to find the place closed.

Anyone any idea how long this has been the case? Is it a temporary measure or a permanent one? The thought of no Sunday football there is a shocker.

Well, to bring the story to a close, I finally found a "Premiere Sports Bar" somewhere near Petuelring - I live near there (someone has to) and on entering it really was like one of those westerns where everyone just stops and looks... and then carries on as before.

After watching the 2nd half I wish I had gone straight home.

It´s going to be closed on Sundays and Mondays for a while now, may be a permanent thing.

Sarabyrd,

Thanks for the update (welcome back to "town" btw.)

Is there anywhere else in the MF area to anyone's knowledge that has this facility? Isn't (wasn't?) there one up Ungererstr.?

Or is one going to be forced to slum it with those from "Down Under" on a Sunday arvo in future?!
Editor Bob
The Irish pub on Ungererstraße was called Shenannigans, but it closed sometime in the 20th century I believe.

Sarabyrd,
Thanks for the update (welcome back to "town" btw.)
Bless you, I was never gone, only in exile.

You've come in from the cold then, so to say!

Editorbob, many thanks; that makes one feel immensely immensely old!

presumably it is in sympathy with the recession that is happening in Ireland?

Does anyone by chance have any alternative venue in mind in the "Freiheit" area?
