Saw this listed in a dates of a local dj but I couldn't find any info on this place. Can anyone enlighten me?

Must be new. Next door to the funky kitchen. You could always take a stroll by.

New, IIRC fairly nice inside, looing to be a kind of pre-clubbing place. Not skanky but not too posh. Crowd likely to be 25-40 ish , urbane, sophisticated and maybe a bit trendy.

Handy for lots of local venues.

Refered to by me and my mates as 'Cockhaus' because it's full of Glockenbach wankers. Very popular since the summer where people would just stand around outside it to bathe in the reflected trendiness. Not too bad a bar inside, but it's just a bar, nothing special, and often too busy to move. Depressingly enough, it's probably one of the better bars in gbach.

Bit brutal there worm! biggrin.gif

But I agree with the bit on reflecting on their trendiness, too many bars locally are into that. Lux on Reichenbachstr springs immediately to mind!

Die Bank on Müllerstrasse is more a bit laid back.

Ludwigvostadt-Isarvorstadt has more bars than any other council ward; there are good places out there, but you do have to look for them sometimes true.

Other bars that are a bit up their own arses include HolyHome, K+K(especially K+K!) and occasionally Trachtenvogel...I have no problem with 'trendiness' per se, just the way that people in Munich have about going about it. Go to a 'trendy' bar in say Berlin, Barcelona or London, and then see how badly muncheners 'do trendy'!

ahh...I suppose it's always good for a laugh... biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, I do actually like die bank though...had my birthday in there last week, a weird crowd, and even wierder music- not bad!

I wouldn't do Holy Home in a month of Sundays, just hearing the name brings me out in hives! ohmy.gif

Fauns alright but I must say I preferred it back in the day when it was a regular of mine and before Glockenbach got SO trendy.

I always laugh at Ksars that has a bouncer but apparently just for show to make it LOOK like an "in" bar. laugh.gif

And as for Cafe Forum: Needs carpet bombing! ph34r.gif

Faun does excellent food, but you really need to book a table in advance otherwise you can have problems

God, I had to go into Hochhaus last night- it now seems that they have one of those door policies where they let people stand outside in a big queue even when it's not totally full, just to attract more interest. Quite why you would queue in the freezing cold to get into a packed (and average) bar is beyond me!!!

Trachtenvogl had a good vibe last night though, maybe I was too harsh on them before! But Holyhome still sucked.

I was in Die Bank last night and it was a cool. DJ playing passable music, mixed and friendly crowd, cool bar staff. I usually go there in the week as I don't like bars that are TOO busy but it is deffo on my list of good bars when I errrm get off the straight and narrow so to speak.

Went past Hochaus on the way to another place and I thought of this thread smile.gif cos the place looked jammed and full of wankers, excluding you obviously Worm.

Where is this Trachtenvogel bar? Heard of it but never been there. huh.gif

Oh yeah and a mention for Excess opposite my old flat in the Jahnstrasse, chill out, cheap beer (OK, its Spaten but) crazy landlord and reguarly changing DJs - there's a possibility me and a mate will be doing the music in there one night sometime soon... ohmy.gif

Luckily for me, I was only in Hochhaus for a couple of minutes!

Trachtenvogl is on reichenbacher str, about 50 yards on past Lux - its biggest claim to fame is that they serve 30 different sorts of Hot Chocolate... I don't really know if that's a good thing or not? It's very similar to all the other bars around gartnerplatz - ie furniture made out of plywood, small bar, preponderence of people with stupid haircuts etcetc...

Also popped into Die Bank and yeah, it looked just about perfectly busy. The lighting in there is quite flattering too. Which is always handy!

Never been to excess, I walk past it every day, it's supposed to be a good place for a drink, especially in the late evenings during the week - I will have to check it out!
