Helau! Alaaf!
yes, it is
that time of the year so a few of us have been planning to go to
Ratskeller (Weinkeller am Rathaus) for After Work Altweiberfasching ("Mad Woman Thursday") on Thursday 3rd February 2005.
The event starts at 4pm (yep you read that right - but you can come later), entry is 5€ and you get a Schlagerparty (so music like at the Oktoberfest).
Costumes are probably optional but advisable - I'll be in costume (which one I'm not sure yet though).
Depending on interest, I can make a reservation. Due to the early start, those that want to see male strippers at the TwiBa still could go onwards to that event.
Here's a .pdf of some of the wines available, last time I was there I drank the one called "Domina" purely because ordering it was funny

PS Men are welcome (but will have their tie cut off as is the tradition)

Like any of this lot will actually be wearing a tie!

As I mentionned last night Katrina, I'm certainly up for this. Mum threw out my devil costume in the summer though (it was still in England), thinking I'd not want it. Bummer. Will be looking for a new one then!

Wouldn't be Ladie's Night with men strip at the Twisted Bavarian the better alternative for us girls? All Cosmos for EUR 3,50!

I might be able to come to your do, Katrina, I'll see how it goes with work. It's a fab idea.
Not personally keen on the TwiBa option, though.

I'm not into male strippers. No appeal to me. It is different if it is in your living room, but on a podium? Nah.
And I'd like a bit of tradition, some Schlager choons, early doors and something *local*. The TwiBa option is available for those who want to go onwards, this is an after work party after all.

It sounds um.. interesting... never celebrated a German Fasching before! You can add my name to the list Katrina (but not for the strippers :S)

YAY!!! Pleased that you want to come along Angel! It is looking to be a good night, have to start thinking about a costume though (or rather go shopping for it).

Sounds like fun...I have Deutsch that night so cannot be a 'mad woman'. Funnily enough I first read the post as 'Cut all ties' rather than 'cut off ties' hehe. Was thinking...why do you have to cut all ties with the people you love? Will it be THAT kind of evening?
So Katrina...where does one go for for Faschings gear? I am thinking of participating in whatever happens on the Dienstag event and need to get in the spirit.

we went to
Karstadt at
Karlsplatz last night, they have loads.. also Kaufhof and
Hertie over the road... or maybe try the Hallowe'en shop in
Müllerstrasse, maybe they have seasonal stuff?

do we have to wear a costume?
if so, any old theme?
if so, can shove on me ol' medieval dress again !
JoolyBooly
Jan 21 2005, 1:52 pm
that would do fine.. it is always fancy dress but this can just be a red nose or a silly hat, right through to people dressed as bumble bees and stuff... very flexible

Medieval fine, darlin'.
A lot of the supermarkets are doing Faschings gear as is Müller Drogerie (their party make-up and sprays are very good, they even have feather boas for not much dosh).
I really have to get my bum in gear and go looking for something though!
Blimeygirl, women cut men's ties off as it is a symbol for cutting something else down to size and letting the ladies take control! No need to fall out with anyone though

I will be arriving around 6:30-6:45pm. Never been to Ratskeller before - how big is it? Will I be able to find you lot easily enough? Sorry, silly question - just need to look for the crowd of men flocking around Katrinas boots and Urban Angels medieval cleavage...

meep!
Does that mean I'm old, saggy and rotting?

Hopefully the only thing medieval about me will be the dress

God, no, sorry, didn't realise you could read it like that
I mean of course your wonderful cleavage in the medieval dress (I'm thinking this kind of thing, only infinitely more attractive and without the strange looking bloke attatched to your shoulder!)

Hi
I've made the reservation under my name (with surname - PM me if you don't know) for 6pm but may well be in there for 5:30pm depending on how quickly I get my gear on!

That leaves plenty of time in there (plus those that want to go on from there can).
I've seen that they don't just have a Schläger band but also a smoochy dance band plus a disco on in there! Sounds *fab*

Oh my God, Showem and Katrina you looked fabulous!
We were there in front of Ratskeller yesterday just past midnight and wanted to have a drink but they wanted 5 Euro in and now I know it would have absolutely been worth it!

Here. It was however Lesbian-central last night. I've never been chatted up by so many women in my life!
