Been here Monday to Friday last three weeks and have eaten out everyday. Since most of the restaurants I visited were recommended on the TT forum, I thought someone would like to benefit from my experience. I have tried to list only the top ones. So here goes:
Indian - Natraj on Nymphenburg strasse - the lamb tikka masala and dal makhani were exceptionally good. Great service though my coat stank of the restaurant for the next three days. Will definitely visit this one again. Didnt like Sitar thought the taste wasnt authentic enough.
Italian - La vechia de masseira (hope I got that right) - Its a walk through the red light area dont remember the name of the street. The restaurant has character and the food and wine was exceptional. The only thing was the noise level and the utter lack of privacy if you are conversing with someone. Would go there again but with 8 people so that we can occupy one whole table.
French - Rue de halles - Went last night, loved the food, the ambience was ok, the service was excellent as was the wine. I recommend the chocolate cake in a vanilla sauce as exceptionally good.
These were the best. Avoid the restaurant at the Le Meridien like the plague, expensive, awful service and real bad food.
Thank you for all your advice - I got it indirectly from the threads posted on the boards but I loved TT and will be back here with my wife for a visit. In case anyone is visiting Hamburg drop me a line and I can recommend some places to got out.
Cheers all!!
