Which nightclubs in Munich really do it for you? Are you more into commercial sounds or the upfront underground german dance music?

For me: Garden, Harry Klein, Prinzip, Club 4 afterhour, Erste Liga, Registrateur, etc.

Post your faves and why!

in Munich i prefer the (il)legal parties that happen in summer under the brudermuehl bridge on the Isar or up at the old 'secret' Sbahn stop in Olympiapark or one-offs in the UBahn/Subways (Friedensengel) or the buildings that are about to be demolished and temporarily used as a club ...just for that old skool raving vibe ...well, it's about as dangerous as you can get in this city ..and it sort of brings back memories of standing in a field in lancashire waiting for the sun to come up smile.gif

other than that, there's been quite a few clubs come and go in Munich ...currently, I would say:

The Garden
Not just cause it's local for me, but because they bring in quality DJ acts

Funky Kitchen
Just like the layout and the wall of visuals at the back

Muffathalle / Muffathalle Cafe
In the hall, I have been to some top nights over the years where the place has been packed and havin' it. The Cafe has also been good and intimate but haven't been there of late

Badeanstalt
Just for the joy of dancing in an empty swimming pool ...actually, like the layout and the outdoorsy-bit in summer and it has a very large capacity so getting in is not an issue

Am always up for trying new places and have been meaning to try Nektar and a few other joints. However, the best club i have ever been to here was a temporary one on Maximilianstrasse called ZKV in 2001. And the reason ...everyone was welcome. Oh and they also had a top willow tree in a garden with red which was great to sit out in when the lounge, bar and dancefloor was gettin' too laaaaarge !

Do you go to the gesheime geselshaft parties? I've only been to one, it was under the (excuse spelling) nockerberg in some old catacombes, was a really cool venue, but the people were horrible and the dj was rubbish. I really like the idea of secret parties in strange venues, but the munich trendies are a bit much!

don't know the name you mention, Worm & sometimes i turn up not knowing who organised it & true it can be crap now and again due to the crowd, DJ or whoever ...however, the happenings i have had quality times at are 'dangerkrew' organised ones which means jungle & we're often tipped off by the London MC they fly over to them. other than that the subway parties ..went to one at the corner of the altstadtring/maximilianstrasse one new year's eve which was large. these ones you can organise yourself through the town administration people but it involves following a lot of rules ..hiring an ambulance, fire safety, toilet cleaners, etc. i'll PM you if i hear of anything...

Clubs I usually go to are Milchbar (Sat), Crowns Club (whenever), 8 Seasons

Tried quite a few but these are the ones I keep going back to

There's a new 'part' of Milchbar opening on the 28th of January called 'Drei Turme' - it's in the old 'Titty Twister' in Optimol, same kind of set up as milchbar, but with live music in the back room I think, and hopefully it will create a bit more space in Milchbar itself (a bit crowded for me!) The venue has been done up and it's quite nice inside, with plenty of seating.

My favourite are the registratur, the garden and die badeanstalt. Don’t like funky kitchen that much ( people are mostly too cool to dance!!) Don’t have a clue about the illegal events (as u said) but would definitely love to try it out.

Had one good night at the milchbar but went back a few weeks later and the dj played exactly the same records in the same order. Including axel-f about 8 times and the old munich favourite 'time of my life' from dirty dancing.. - and it's far far too packed. - are there no fire regulations?

8-seasons, crowns, pascha etc are ok for about 10mins by which time you get pissed off with the whole shicky micky attitiude of most of the people in there - as well as the dj.

Die registrar (sp?) isn't too bad but it feels too much like a student union bar.

muffathalle is ok once in a while, just for the music.

harry kleins wasn't too bad.. again just for the music..

atomic cafe is fun for something different..

nachtgalerie is fun if you're very pissed once in a while..

Anyone been to 'two rooms' or whatever its called yet?
worm
Yeah I went to the launch night of 2rooms, so I don't suppose that it was a 'regular' night there, but my opinion was that it was ok, but not great. The music was too commercial for me (r'n'b and 'Black Beat' sad.gif ) and the people wern't that great either - lots of pretend flash-harrys in leather jackets and girls with too much makeup. Oh, and it was WAY too hot!!

oh- and I don't think most of the nightclub owners here have any concerns at all about fire regs - just pack em in!

Registratur
Kitchen

Both close to where I live, I can't be arsed having to get a cab after clubbing.

Also, one off parties (legal-ish) that I tend to hear about on the grapevine.

And some of the venues in the Müllerstrasse. ..
UrbanAngel
Pulverturm, Nerodom and Keller
Ravski
A few I like:

Titty Twisted
Phospherus
8 Seasons
K41
NOFXmike
the only club I've really liked is the Backstage. they also have some great bands playing there fairly often. The next couple shows I'm going to there are Wizo this month and then the vandals next month.

My gf used to always go to the alabama hall...but we've only been there once together and it was basically fun but nothing special and certainly not worth our $...though it was a NYE party, so it had fireworks...last year

i used to go out clubbing v. often back in england, tired a few clubs here (4004, various in Kultfabrik / optimol, funky kitchen (although it was a day with a live band) but wasn't impressed at all, got really put off with some of the music they were playing / bad mixing / play ice ice blody baby every 5 seconds mad.gif etc. The only place I have found that played music i liked is 8 seasons but wasn't really the greatest atmosphere. got a bit disillusioned with the whole Munich clubbing scene.
Mrs Peel
Atomic Cafe gets my vote!

First time out tonight since we moved here. Looking for a quiet (not banging music) but lively place. going out at 9. cheers
MonksTown
What kind of music?

You want: nice cocktails? cheap drinks? high flirt factor? any particular area of town?
Beckita72
9 is pretty early for going out...are you doing dinner as well, or just girls on the town?
jesh
Nice cocktails, city centre and no dinner. some music would be good and people to talk to. One of us is married so abit of flirt factor for the other one would be nice as she has come all the way from England.
johnnyd
Jesh, at 9 you might want to look in the bar Comercial in the Fuenf Hoefen, Thatinerstrasse. It looks lively and classy.
