Cinema: Napola - German Nazi film

Highly recommended

HeyFrito500
If you understand German well enough I would highly recommend Napola. It's very good. Sad and tough, but a good film. Occasionally my wife and I will go to a German film, I don't understand German fluently, but she fills in the gaps of what I don't get. I can't help but wish I understood everything since this was such a strong film. This is one that should get translated and sent internationally. With this and Der Untergang, Rosenstraße and the upcoming Sophie Scholl movie it seems Germany is going through a WW2 phase in the cinema.

Anyways, see it if you get the chance.

Frito is right. The director is a friend of a friend. This movie has no marketing budget so I'd ask you to support it. It is based on years of research by the director that has revealed some interesting facts about where some of Germany's well-known have been brought up...

a big crowd of us from work (half of them German) are going next week on Wednesday...can´t wait to see it. I loved the Untergang (saw it twice in fact!) will report back when I´ve seen Napola. It´s received great reviews!

Not a big film fan but this does look good!

VERY interesting issue about how ruling class elites train their next generations...quite a few senior post-war German men went through this system... <avoids mentioning sword fight Burschenschaften... <oooops>

2 lead actors pretty cute too which is a Brucie Bonus

saw this last night...it's a great, thought-provoking film, would highly recommend it.

Max Riemelt gives a great performance as the disillusioned Friedrich, and he's quite cute too (arr!)...see photo below.

am looking forward to seeing Sophie Scholl - die Letzten Tag (starts 24.02)...some of it was filmed outside my flat in Königsplatz!
