From Bild.de: Müller-Comeback stärkt die Haie

The Hockey team "Kölner Haie" had a special present for there goalie Robert Müller (28)at the last home game. Müller got to play again for 8min after returning to the team from his latest operation 90 days ago on the tumor in his head. Two years ago he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and was expected to live for 5years of which two have already passed. 13 000 fans exploded when robert came back on the ice and not one eye was dry on the bench while müller did his job as goalie, something he had not expected to do. Later müller said that he was just sad that his two children weren't there to see him play.

The team plans to let müller play more often but not for a complete game.

Thats the kewl thing about german hockey, its got a great local community spirit that is lost in some of the NHL corporations...

I agree. Something like this would never happen back home; teams are too concerned about winning games or taking advantage of a team who would do something like this...

watched this on the news last night. 'heart-wrenching' describes it exactly.

Reminds me of Jason McCartney, an Aussie Rules footballer who got caught up in the Bali bombings.

McCartney was a victim of the Bali bombing near the Sari Club. He was drinking at a nearby pub called Paddy's Bar when the bomb exploded...McCartney suffered severe second degree burns to over 50% of his body...McCartney initially thought his burns were minor and set about saving those around him instead of worrying about himself. He considered others to be in more pain than he was, and had to be taken on a special chartered flight back to Melbourne along with other victims. When he arrived the injuries turned out to be severe and McCartney almost died under the knife.
On 6 June 2003, McCartney completed one of the greatest and most courageous feats in sport by making his return to the AFL. Playing for the Kangaroos against Richmond, McCartney was heavily bandaged, wore a long-sleeved top and had to wear special gloves. But he made his return to the game of Australian rules football, which is a tough and relentless sport with heavy body-contact. McCartney wore the numbers "88" and "202" on his guernsey - 88 representing the number of Australians who died in the Bali bombing, and 202 the total number of deaths.
He booted a goal early in the final quarter, but in a real fairytale, with the Kangaroos trailing by less than a goal late in the game, McCartney dished off the ball to Leigh Harding, who assisted the goal which put the Kangaroos three points in front with seconds remaining.
He then retired after the game.

Most Canadian players I meet in Germany say they enjoy the team spirit and are amazed how dedicated the fans are.

I was going to add a pic of müllers head(with huge scar) but though he should not remembered like that. He is just Germanys best goalie

Heard it on the radio today. Sad indeed.

Side note; Why is Mapleleafdude's name appearing as "Mapleleafdud..."? If the ellipsis fits, wouldn't "e"? I'd complain, Dud... uh... Dude.
Mapleleafdude
Dud will get to the bottom of this.

I seems that all usernames longer than 12 characters get the same treatment. I think I first noticed it on Wednesday.
