Not sure how much it costs - if I remember rightly it was quite expensive, at least compared to last time I saw him.

Just a general Q 2 U. I am a big music fan, and for years went regularly to gigs both both large and small. The last real band gig I was at was Ocean Colour Scene about 5 years ago (and they were abysmal) where I decided to give up the whole lark altogether. I mean, there are 3 options:
1. Get tanked up and freak out at the front
2. Don't get tanked up but freak out in the mosh pit all the same
3. Stand with the masses, fold your arms, tap your foot, nod your head

1 was the general path for years, but it gets tiring. Never could get into 2 because of the years of 1, so I usually ended up 3ing all the time, which got boring quickly. The prodigy was the only gig where there was enough of a buzz to 2. How do you eat yours?

BTW, I've seen FB live and he was gooooood. He played loads of the Pixies stuff but I think that could have been just before the band broke up.

The tickets are 15 euros (compared to 25 DM last time). Fuck knows where I got the impression that they were going to be expensive.

MysteryMan, where did you see FB last time? I saw him when he played at the old Backstage a couple of years ago. His set lasted for about 3 hours - definitely the best value for money I've had from a concert...

And to answer your question, I've pretty much always gone for option 3. Being tall doesn't really make for a comfortable experience in the mosh pit. Unless of course you like getting kicked in the head by crowd-surfers and shoved in the back cos you're blocking someone's view...

Actually now that I come to think of it I've actually seen him twice.
The first time he was definitely still in the Pixies but doing a solo gig and that was pretty short but sweet, as far as I remember either support or in some festival or other. The second time was well after the pixies broke up and well value for money as you say. Both times were in Ireland. I'm just pissed I never got to see the Pixies live: I still think the were the most original and interesting band of all time (even if the last few albums were a bit off). Doolittle still gets regular listens from me.

To be quite honest I'd never heard anything by the Pixies or Frank Black before I went to the concert a couple of years ago (or if I had, I didn't know it was him/them). I only went along because it was cheap and a load of mates were going. Although the concert was very good, I never really got into listening to the albums afterwards - despite being given copies of them all as MP3.

Anyway, it looks like I'm not going to make it to this one, as it falls on the same day as the TT party...

Wish I'd seen the Pixies when they were touring as well

I did see Frank Black many years ago after his first solo, and I thought the concert was pretty unimpressive; but then it was a hard crowd too.

On the twilight zonish side, last new year's party I met David Lovering (the drummer) who's become a really swell magician
