Is there one, or any interest to start one?

Hi all,
I'm not in Berlin yet, but will be in December. I'm debating whether or not I should bring my skates and a hockey stick. Is there a group in berlin that would be interested in pick-up hockey?

I have my stick and skates with me and would play as well if a team could be arranged.

Hm. well at least there's one other person. I will bring my skates, maybe we can get something together when I get there...

I would definitely play as well. Roman, I think you've been in Berlin a while. Are there hockey rinks around for pick up play?

There is a pretty good small hockey shop in Charlottenburg, I will drop in and ask what possibilities there are to find some rink time or join a casual game without all the bureaucratic "Verein" stuff.
Unfortunately hockey is not a sport that can just be played on a field somewhere and unlike Canada, where there is a hockey rink on every corner, Germany has very few "public" rinks, just tons of soccer fields. Chances are we would have to join a "Verein" which means fees and forms etc...
Maybe we could find some midnight time if it suits us, back home we rented ice time from midnight until 2 am every Saturday, it was great and cheap.

Good idea Roman,
You never know though, we could always form a verein. Might not be that much work.

Interested for sure. I have played field hockey and can skate pretty well so I would like to give ice hockey a crack. I have skates and can pick up a stick no problem if something can be arranged.

Ah, dammit. I just returned from a brief trip to the states and debated extensively whether or not to bring my skates back to Berlin, ultimately opting not to. I'd absolutely be in on this.

isn't it about time you got a new pair?

This sounds like a promising group. I'll be in Berlin toward the end of December. I'd be happy to play around then or in the new year.

Sounds good to me. I can probably get others to come aswell...

I just moved here from Vancouver and I was sad to leave the casual hockey team I was playing with. I'd definitely be interested in casual games in Berlin, but I wonder if there are places were you can get cheap late night rink rentals and skates rentals. You can get way more people coming out if skates and sticks can be rented from the facility...

Looks like we have a decent start to a pick up game.
So...in Spandau there is an outdoor rink that does have some Verein teams.
We need to decide on a few things.
How often do we want to play...weekly?
What corner of Berlin would be best, Spandau is a bit out of the way for some.
How much are we willing to pay for ice time and for how long and time of the day?
Do we join a Verein or start our own, I understand you need at least 5 members to start one.

Tomorrow I will be at the hockey shop to get an idea of what's involved.

Hi all,
I will be living in F'hain, so naturally closer to that would be better, but I am flexible
Weekly or bi-weekly would be good for me.
I am very flexible for time, cheaper is better.
I would be willing to pay 10-15 Euros per occasion

My German is not good, but perhaps somebody can get something out of that lot. I know Deutschlandhalle has a section on amateur eisport.
