I've found out about a company supplying ice here in Munich. They should be able to sort out anyones needs. Have a looksee at
EisFactory for details. It's expensive for frozen water but they do deliver.
Kochelseestraße 8
81371 München
Tel. 089 74 79 05 50

Alternatively, get a plastic bag, go to your local pub and ask them for some ice. That's what I do and I've not been refused or charged yet.
Or thirdly, there is a bavarian bar on Pfeufferstr near Harras who have a sign outside their door advertising ice at 70ct per bag.
So there you go.

Hiya
Kaufhof sometimes does crushed ice as do some
Wal-Marts. It isn't that common in Munich though, people tend to use freezer blocks like this (reuseable):

EisFactory - Think its more of a large scale commercial place, on their business card they say daily deliveries

Bags of ice are also available at Metro, if you have a card to go shopping there.

I have successfully asked for buckets full of crushed ice at a McD restaurant. For free.
And then there are science departments at universities, they often have an industrial strenght ice machine well hidden somewhere in their basement. Just walk in as if you own the place, ask the next student where it is located and leave with 50kg (110lbs) of crushed ice, no questions asked. Please switch it back on when you leave with all their daily ice production, these machines are not there for decoration purposes only.
And Metro of course.

You can get 2kg and 1kg bags of ice at Hit. I bought 4 or 5 for a party I had about a month ago. And they were not all that expensive(1.99€ for the 2kg bag. I think). It's in a freezer in the drinks part of the store(beer, water, etc). This one was on the Frankfurter ring at the very end of Dachauer Strasse in Moosach.
Thanks for all the leads. At the last minute I ended up going to one of EisFactory's "depots" at Bavaria Oil on Ingolstaedterstrasse. Drove up, walked in and grabbed a to go box of cubes out of their cooler. Very easy but very expensive at 10.50 euro.
Still, we had plenty of ice.

On a recent trip in Finland, we desperately needed ice and couldn't find any at the usual suspects. We eventually noticed that all the places selling fish had them on ice, walked into a supermarket and asked if they could provide us with some fresh bagged ice. They gave us a few bags for free.
If someone tries this in Munich, let us know how it goes.
