English tutors for children in Hamburg

Where to find one, personal recommendations

Themis
Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum. Well, it looks like some of you may help me out.

My daughter so far has grown up bilingual - english and german speaking. I am a native German and her father is british. We used to live in London (where she was born) and in the USA before returning to Hamburg in 2006.

Up to last year she was at the International school in Hamburg and enjoyed the good academic education there.
Unfortunantly my daughter is now unable to attent the International school in Hamburg anymore. She is now attending a German State Primary school. It is a great school and I am happy that her German is finally improving, but now her english seems to lack the right input.

She has now all german friends and hardly speaks any english anymore.

To ensure that her english is not going to be forgotten and for the further academic and linguistic development of her english I am now looking for a private tutor/teacher who can see her twice a week to work on her phonetics and continue her academic english from home.

It would be very basic. She need tutoring twice a week to maintain her english on the appropriate level Primary class 1 and 2. Reading and writing and comprehensive work.

My english is reasonable alive but due to full time work it seems almost impossible to maintain myself the role of the tutior.

If any of you have any recommendations and ideas please feel free to contact me.

Much appreciated - Themis

Hi,

I guess you have read the previous mail re: the english playgroup.

I am a qualified teacher to children of other languages, and would be more than happy
to talk about what your daughters language requirements now that she's in a german school.
I've taught bilingual children here in Hamburg for over ten years.
