To all those interested, I am hosting an Election Night event at my club in Munich. Everybody is welcome. As an American, I thought it would be a great idea to offer all those interested, a venue to watch this historic event. What better way to spend the night (gonna be long) than with a bunch of friends and hope for the best. I would love to get a few fellow landsmen and women here in the club.

CNN on the big Screen. Beer, Hot Dogs and Popcorn all night long! check this link if you speak german:

check the attachment for the Flyer. You'll also be seeing Posters all over town.

Hope to see you.

YES WE CAN!

dakota dave, this is a special night indeed. Thanks for organising it. I havnt seen much in the way of other events other than a semi private thing at amerika haus...should be a ball, not.

i think people imagine that staying glued to the TV is the answer rather than it being more of an exciting community event.

Interesting thing is we underestimate the effect here, for at least the next 4 years the outcome of this election.

Brilliant! I'm not an "Ami", but I'll be there all night

I'll likely go, I have a ticket to the Amerika Haus (if anyone wants it) but I like the idea of an open place and a non-partisan venue.

So, now to find a babysitter ...

Can some furnish an address! We would like to join the party! But do not know here to go! Thanks.

The address for Die Registratur is Blumenstraße 28, 80331. You can find a link to Google maps below, which should give you a better idea of how to find it.

when do the polling booths shut? Assuming they shut at 7pm, then the earliest time the east coast states can declare would be about 2am (giving them 1 hour to complete counting which isn't likely), wouldn't it?

Wouldn't it be better to go to bed early and get up at about 4 or 5am to watch the results come in?

First results come in at midnight tonight. At 4 or 5 it should all be over.

no, i hadn't read that link but it says the first polls will CLOSE at midnight (although some reports are saying that polls will stay open later to about 7pm local, so 1am), so i don't see how they can declare already (unless the result has been fixed in advance).

Yeah - the major media outlooks will declare the winner before hawaii even votes (or Ms Palin for that matter) based on asking people who they voted for when they leave the polling stations in the east.

I really wish you would be there tonight, would be interesting to watch this with you.

I seem to remember them getting that one wrong in one of the Bush elections with everybody going to bed thinking the democrat had won and waking up to Bush as President. I mean, going on polls, we could basically declare Obama president right now and deff the voting all together.
