New speed traps in Germany that don't "Blitz"

Gotcha! And you don't even know it.

German police are taking advantage of a new generation of high tech speed traps to battle red light offenses and speeding. The new cameras use infrared flash that is not visible to the human eye. The problem for the drivers though is they wont notice if they have been caught until they get there ticket in the mail which might also mean that they have gone through the trap more than once as happened in the A99 tunnel near Munich in a test.

10000 speeding violations were registered in three months in Königs Wusterhausen (Brandenburg). In this case the camera doesen't use radar or light to measure the speed but a camera that recognizes different shades of light. Five sensors in the camera measure speed and distance to the camera.

Austria has also upgraded there laser gun system which is in use in Mettmann and Mönchengladbach. The new laser can target vehicles 1000 meters away instead of the current 500m. The picture is sharp enough that belt use is visible, or not.

A few city have already installed a multi role camera that measures red light offenses AND speed, so if you step on the gas while the light is orange and cross the intersection during the red phase then you get a double whamy a few days later for the red light and speeding.

I got caught by a red flash camera recently and I did notice something red appear in the middle of some green bushes so unless you are driving in a very red environment you will probably notice it when it happens.

The new cameras use infrared flash
Which make then venerable to Outside IR Light sources.. Just buy a pack of High intensity IR LEDS,
and wire them up around your license plate, add power, and continue speeding..

Alot of hi-end cars have Night vision assist cameras... The Infra red should be visible on these vehicles... oder?

What, it makes them command respect by virtue of age, dignity, character, or position? Or did you mean they become worthy of reverence, especially by religious or historical association?

There's a Mettmann and Mönchengladbach in Austria too?

Sorry, wrong formulation "An Austrian laser system in use in..."

That would then be the current system using a regular red flash(visible light spectrum) so as not to blind the driver or ruin the persons night vision and possibly causing a crash. Infrared light is not visible(to the human eye).

[s]Blitzer[/s] what are they going to call these things?

What is the distance range for these things? They recently replaced the old system with the newer ones in our area. With the older ones, you always knew where you needed to slow down so that you would not get flashed.

Is the range further (i.e. start breaking sooner) or the same for the newer devices?
tinap
he said in the original post the new range is 1,000 meters, the old was 500...

There will be lines on the road so that photos can be used to confirm which vehicle was speeding and how fast it was going. Look out for them and you'll know where the radar/laser/piezoelectric strips are measuring. The range increase is for laser devices which are normally hand-held.

I've got a good idea. How about not endangering your life or the lives of others by simply not speeding !! Works wonders.l

I was wondering how long it would take before the 55 mph brigade arrived
