Hi everyone. I'm looking for folks interested in going mountain biking on the weekends. I am probably an intermediate level mountain biker. I went last weekend and had a blast. If you are familiar with the Taunus trails or looking for folks to go with, shoot me an email: wiedemannk@yahoo.com It's a beautiful time of year to be in the mountains!

Oh yes yes I am interested. My mountain bike really should see his mountain destiny!!

I probably cannot be classed as intermediate though, but my boyfriend certainly is and I am sure he'd be interested in going. When were you thinking? I cannot do this Sunday as it is Frankfurt marathon and the Sunday after I am doing a duathlon.

I've been up to Taunus a couple times and am working on improving my fitness level. Not at intermediate level yet, but am game for trying off trail and just having some fun riding around the trails.

Great to hear there are some folks out there interested in doing some mountain biking! I was thinking perhaps Sat. 25 or Sun. 26 around 13:00 or 14:00 or Sat. Nov. 1 around 14:00 or 14:30? Nov. 1 might be better as I am sick right now with a pretty bad cold. But I hope I will feel better by the weekend so that I can go for even just a more relaxed mtb ride. Good way to reach me is via email: yogakarin@gmail.com if you want to connect. Good luck with the marathon this weekend. I also saw that Frankfurt-N-Motion organizes a beginner group every Sunday at 14:00 - have either of you checked that out yet?

I would be interested. I am probably intermediate technically but not sure if I am with regards to fitness. I just got over here 2 weeks ago and brought my bike and I'm desperate to get up into the hills.

Just to say I have no clue what an intermediate level is. I mean I can ride my bike so that must count. Otherwise not sure am probably a beginner. However I am pretty fit - well not bad for a girl I think!!

Actually it's me who set that up...a mixed group of beginners and intermediates! Come and join us - best way to contact me is per email martinafriedman@hotmail.com

Otherwise, I was thinking of riding up to the Platte on Saturday.

Sorry forgot to mention what I actually set up - the biking tour on Sundays at 14h00 in the Taunus.

Bit difficult at the moment as its mostly ice on the Taunus trails = treacherous.

Tarmac only

I ride a lot of DH in the french alps, bit of ice shouldnt hurt too much. Could you recommend any trails capt, just want to ride to the top and then back down. Perhaps a good place to park my car at the bottom and ride from there?

Thanks

Depends where you live but most people seem to ride up from Oberursel at Hohenmark (where there is a U-Bahn stop and a car park). Not sure whether you speak German but perhaps have a look at this site will give you a good idea of some nice routes:

I know quite a few trails myself and would be happy to join you (when there is less snow on the ground - big girls blouse!)

Thanks for the info

Seems like a nice easy one to start off with ;-)

Let me know if you change your mind

I will give it some thought!

Altkönig is excellent and although it is not quite as high as the Feldberg it is in my opinion I much nicer place to go for a ride a) Because there are no roads to the top so less tourists and because the soth side (I think its south!) has spectacular views across Frankfurt and surrounds.

Enjoy.

Hi everyone,
I'm moving to Frankfurt in September and am also keen on biking trails. I'm thinking about bringing a bike with me and was wondering what the trails in the Taunus are like? For example are they well developed, is there a lot of rocks, lots of opportunity to go very off-road? I'm trying to figure out what kind of bike to bring and don't want to buy one with features I'll never use...
Thanks
