I can't help feeling that they'd be better off spending the money on solving the chronic poverty they have in the bit of the planet they live on, instead of making expensive toys to shoot at lumps of rock in space.

They proved they went there by bringing back some moon rock. It has "The Moon" written all the way through it!

Anyway, I'm looking for jokes connecting India with the moon. As the "Nan on the moon" was the only thing I could think of. Please contribute.

Apparently, when Armstrong landed on the moon, there was an Indian selling chai out there!

I would seriously like to strangle these bastards who think, sending men to the moon is a proud achievement. There are a billion other problems which needs to be taken care of.

One more thing is that India launches satellites for good number of European countries (including Germany, France, Ukraine, et al). I have been to the 'Space Research Centre' in 'Sriharikota' in South India. It is said to be one of the well equipped and best locations for launching rockets.

Yes, there are million problems, but that shouldn't stop the innovation/development (in technology), because thats one of the things that indirectly helps in the development of a country. A couple of years back, there were hundreds of people moaning about foreign industries investing in software/Automobile, etc things. Look at that now and the development involved. The money invested in knowledge/technology is not waste. Indeed, the money and many other resources are wasted by corrupt politicians or similar kinda people. They should be cleansed. India is diverse and I haven't seen such a diverse country,anywhere in the world. This is one of the factors, why its hard to maintain/lead the country. But it works! Apart from that, imagine Munich stuffed up with 6 or 10 million people (which is actually the total population of Bavaria). Will that work? NO...Absolutely, NO! Munich will be in chaos. But in India, it works. And it being the oldest civilization in the world and all kind of people and cultures, it will take time to gradually have those standards of living for each and everyone (not just for rich or middle-class)...and also to get back the things that were stolen or stripped apart by some of the colonies that invaded and lived in India, for years.

So there was me last year sat in our Burlington/Boston office & could do no real work as the server for my "home" directory back in Hamburg was down.
Complicated to explain anyway. So I open an "internal ticket" stating where to call me.
Guy from the subcontinent calls up "Well, H..., how is you day today?" "Bloody awful - I can't get any work done"... (didnt you READ the ticket contents?)

Whats the problem ,
Shops and Restaraunts all over the Moon in a couple of years.
A veritable boon for Space travellers everywhere!

Thats why they don't let India and Pakistan play in the World Cup,
cos every time they get a corner , they open a shop! .. boom boom

For all of you who have been to India, will most likely agree.
Today's 80 Million Dollar launch was truly "important", especially after having seen and smelled the water in the river Ganges.

I'm sure after the next flood, India will request international aid money again.
