Hi there,

I have a book that I want to sell online. I'm keen on making my own website, through which customers can buy the book. Does anyone have a few tips - suggestions. What's a cheap and effective way to do this?

Thanks
Timmeh
Sign up with a cheap, but reputable web host and you'll usually have a a selection of template based websites to choose from that you can customise relatively easily including carts and payment options etc. Check out siteground.com
Or alternatively, try and get your head around HTML

If you want to rely on people finding your site though search engines, you also need to learn how to optimize your site for search engines. You site won't do you any good if people can't find it.

Putting up a site is easy, putting up a site that looks good and runs well in this day and age is generally harder than it is worth the time to do it your self..

you will have to ensure traffic to your site. This can be done through paid for web advertsing or (if you are well enough known) through media interviews. Alternatively if you are completely unknown and have no money simply post the link up to every chatroom and messageboard you can find. Search optimisation only works if people want to search for you inb the first place. And as a starting point for that they need to know who you are.

Finally, do you have a publihser? If so, what kind of marketing are the paying for? Could you get your web link into their marketing?

simply post the link up to every chatroom and messageboard you can find.

Great tip. If you want to be labelled a spammer and potentially have your site blacklisted by search engines.
