Country settings for iTunes Store

E.g. using the UK store from Germany

I use iTunes extensively and I am registered with the German iTunes Store. My question is... is there any way I can register with an alternative store, the US or UK versions especially? In addition to the language difficulty, there is a better choice available on the US and UK stores. I have already tried to do this but I always get directed to the German store by default.

The store you get directed to depends on the country your credit card was issued in, so register with a US or UK card.

Thanks Wheel. I tried to register with the UK iTunes store using my UK registered credit card. Trouble is, the card address is my address here in Germany and the iTunes registration requires a UK address for the credit card. Looks like I'm stuck with the German store sad.gif

funny that it seems so difficult to make a small change like that. i mean, myspace (of course its free) allows me to choose the us site over the german site. its just a matter of digital information...weird!

cruiser, id suggest you try and write to them yourself via the us site because ive also been in contact with the company and they were fully cooperative (i bought a movie online and, although funtional, the sound was too low to enjoy through my laptop speakers -- they completely refunded the cost and let me keep the file) so yeah, i would complain to the guys in the us first since we have a reputation for customer satisfaction, then work my way around to other applicable countries if (and thats a big if) it doesnt work out. follow this link to find the other countries support contact info.

good luck!

I had the same problem with a US iTunes gift certificate someone sent me after I got my iPod. I couldn't use it on the US iTunes site because I'm in Germany, and I couldn't use it on the German iTunes site because it's from the US. dry.gif

Aha, I just checked the other thread and see that this has also been covered.

I haven't verified this, but I have heard that using iTunes gift cards is another way around this problem. If you know someone that can purchase some cards in the UK and send them to you, you should be all set.

You could have verified it on TT that it's not true
