Getting sick from dirty Maßkrugs at Oktoberfest

My other half every year of going to the oktoberfest gets either Herpies or a bad Cold. Doctors say its from the mass Krugs - that they are either not washed or simply they dont use the handle therefore grabbing the top of the mass at the bar!

Has anyone noticed that on the oktoberfest you seem to get all sorts of

• allergies
  
• influenzas
  
• herpies
  
• mouth ulcers
  
• etc.

There are thousands of people jammed together in a very warm and often damp place, they can't all be healthy.

Maßkrüge tend to give me a headache, especially after I've emptied three or four.

I've been to the Wiesn twice this year, drunk from app. 10 Maß (including those of strangers) and suffered no ill effects besides aforesaid headaches.

Every year I await for the first twitterings of dirty maß with such joy. Your becoming ill has nothing to do with copious amounts of alcohol, undercooling of the body going home after sweaty dancing and being shoved up in a tent with millions of people all pumping bacteria into the air, oh no, never.

Maybe there's a draught in the tent.

The "dirty maßkrug" phenom is the bavarian equivalent of the English "dodgy pint" which must have made you ill. Normally pint number 17.

Maybe that's why the close the doors so early nowerdays! Can you imagine how much money security make by being bribed by 4000 hypochondriac Germans?

I refuse to believe that I'm the only person wondering exactly what this woman's doing with the Maß krugs to get herpes from them.

Is a Dirty Maßkrug anything like a Dirty Sanchez?

Only if you manage to get your head all the way inside.

I walked through the wiesn last night. And now have a cold.

It was incubating since last Sunday.

What? In a masskrug?

If you don't get struck down at Oktoberfest, you still have a chance at the Weihnachtsmarkt with the mugs they use for Glühwein. They just slosh them around in the dirty ol' rinse water that doesn't get changed all day/evening and and you get all the nasties from the previous imbibers. Bleh.

you know herpes is seasonal right? It can re-occur at the same time every year from the 'anniversary' of the first break out.

So not washing in a machine in with soapy water and then drying them at temeperatures to kill off any nasties then likey do at "Pots of Evil" in Munich.
Likewise at the Wies'n they wash all the Mass in industrial diswashers.

Nope, not where I live. There are reports about it every year in the newspaper. Some stands don't even have a water hookup.

Surely then the council goes down to check it if it makes the papers?
Or don#t you have trading standards officers up there in Preussen?
