Getting into an Oktoberfest tent with a rucksack

What about a laptop backpack, is it allowed?

For reasons which are too boring and compilicated, I will be at the Wiesn this afternoon but will have a small laptop rucksack with me. Leaving the rucksack behind is not an option, it has to be with me.

I have a reservation in a Box but will I be allowed into the tent with the bag? Security reasons and all that.

Thanks

Prob. Not.. But good luck trying.. You could try to bribe a security guard. That seems to be the "In thing" this year.

I've seen people entering with bags, a laptop bag might get in too. The guards might ask you to open it and show its contents, that's all.

as long as you dont object to them looking into the bag, and its not massive I see no problems - hell all the tourists carry them around all the time. If they get shiity indicate you are going to a quiet box with space and not the floor with the pikeys

If they don't let you in, can I have your space? I'm going there this afternoon with a friend and we don't have a reservation. Got any spare places?

2 free places but sadly not mine to give away!!

You'll just have to sweet talk the person responsible! As bribery seems to be the theme of this years wiesn, there's a maß in it for you!

I go in with a large camera bag all the time. Not a problem.

I was perambulating the Hofbräu tent last Sunday with a large, full and conspicuously pink backpack and no one said a word, neither in the box nor the central area.

Many thanks for the feedback. Wiesn here I come!!

my brother went yesterday with a large camping backpack and no one said anything. we walked araoud into 2 tents before we have found a place to crash. maybe on weekends is more restrictive

but do you want your stuff in there. There are lockers near the Ubahn station, or place it in a locker at the Hauptbahnhof, yeah, adds 30min (exaggerated time) to your time, but if there is anything you want to keep clean and safe, better not to take it.
if your reservation is the whole box, you might be fine with your laptop- try to get a table in the corner not near the walkway.

I have been there a couple times now with my backpack. All the security has done is checked what was in it and let me through. It was a camelback hydration bag and they were skeptical about whether it was reall water but Ive made it through fine both times. But really if you can avoid taking it, do put it in a locker or something.

My concern would be about someone nicking it. Use a locker or the left-luggage office at Hbf.

Leaving it is not an option but getting in doesn't seem to be a problem.
