Night out at the Schelling Salon, Munich Schwabing

So who's up for shooting some pool?

I am in the process of making the decision as to 'where', but the 'when' is 7pm on Friday - all are gonna be welcome, be they girls or boys, with a view to the initial idea of separate starts and communal finishing (ahem) starting at a later date provided this attracts more than just Sparty and me...this time out though I shan't be bothering with that.

What I'm aiming for is for people not to eat really - curry night is great, but you can't ciruclate so easily around and about as you can in a pub or bar - it would be nice for everybody just to get to meet everybody else, and it being a Friday I don't want to hear any body 'not drinking' or anything silly like that. Alcohol is a vital component in a night like this.

Another post to follow tonight with a proposed 'where'.

Ey up!

the pool hall suggestion gets the thumbs up from me! I've not played pool for ages and there's a really nice hall near the University called "Schellingsalon" if anyone knows it, in Schellingstraße, obviously. It's dead old, in fact I think it's a listed building or something. Anyway, it's cheap and there's loads of pool tables.

Friday at 19:00 in the Schellingsalon?
Jimbo
Right, that's tipped it for me then - 19:00 in the Schelling Salon - you don't have to play pool if you don't want to, there are plenty of tables (of the non-pool variety) around and about you can sit at when youve had enough pool.

I can't do this fancy map crap the other guys do, but it's simple - U6 or U3 to Universitaet, jump off there head down Ludwigstrasse in the direction of Odeonsplatz and take a right after 2 or 3 minutes and walk down Schellingstrasse. On the crossroads of Schellingstrasse and Barerstrasse you will find the pool hall. Sparty and I will be there for sure from 7 (is that OK with you Erik?).

Anyone got a prob or question post here or PM me.

No doubt will move on to another venue a bit later on.

Hopefully see you there.

James

P.S. Yeah, the place is well over one hundred years old, and hasn't changed much...

Schelling Salon: You can also get there on tram 27 from Karlsplatz, direction Petuelring. Not sure which stop it is, but Schellingstraße would probably be a safe bet. If not, then one of the stops on either side of it. It's still closer than walking from Universität.

Ned's on Saturday: It can get quite packed, and I don't know how much luck you'll have reserving a table for the amount of people that go to your Stammtisch. Assuming they all bother to actually turn up, that is tongue.gif
sparty
Yep, that's allright Jimbo...here's the fancy crap: biggrin.gif

Jimbo
OK, right...just one last note to encourage people to come along, especially those that don't normally make it out. curry night is always good fun, and this should go on later and involve more alcohol so it should be just as much fun (possibly not in the morning though).

I'm not sure if Beans is still trying to get the girls together separately beforehand or not - hopefully she'll confirm her plans later, but just to make it clear ALL are welcome to this one, and I daresay we'll head out to find a Halloween party at a bar or something after not too long.
Malcolm Spudbury
Looks like the nearest 27 tram-stop is Schellingstraße then. You can see the bar from the tram anyway, so you shouldn't miss it unless you have serious visual impairments.

See you there.

Jimbo, my wife and I are going to try and make it out on Friday. How long do you suspect you'll be at Schelling Salon?

Doubt we can make it by 7, we have an early halloween gathering to attend, but we hope to get in and out fairly quickly.

We've been in Munich for about a month now and are itching for some company.

Hopefully we will see some of you on Friday. If not, then soon.
Jimbo
Sure - I should think we'll be there until at least 9, probably 10...let the Munich nightlife kick off properly before we head out. As I said, we may or may not be shooting pool for the entire duration of the evening...

I'll PM you my mobile phone number, and feel free to call or SMS if you want to know where we are.

James

Here are the details: EVERYBODY IS WELCOME. There is no specific girls night on Friday. Schelling Salon from 7, you can eat there, but I was thinking more along the lines of lots of beer. Directions and maps are elsewhere in this thread. Problems? Then PM Sparty or I.

That is all
sparty
...just to add a little info (it might be a little hard to find since it doesn't look like a pool hall from the outside), the address is Schellingerstrasse 54, a greenish building on the corner.
Malcolm Spudbury
Hard to find? Despite that fact that it's got "Schelling Salon" written across it in huge fuckoff letters?
Jimbo
Ohh...hand bags at dawn!
pointman
jimbo i think the whole idea of guys only pub crawl meets ladies night out and the end of the night is a brilliant idea laugh.gif i say we make it a goal to have at least one of these events before i go back to the states in 2 weeks ohmy.gif good luck you... have my full support.
Jimbo
OK...THIS IS TONIGHT!

One last time I will say this, as I'm still being asked - there is a TT gathering tonight, starting at the Schelling Salon at 7pm. Girls and boys are welcome as the separate gender thing has not started YET. If enough people come tonight, of each gender, then I'll try and make gender specific nights out a regular fixture.

BUT for tonight IT IS EVERYBODY WELCOME, 7pm on, Schelling Salon, Schellingstraße. THERE IS NO SEPARATE GIRLS NIGHT OUT.

Hope to see a few of you there. Any questions PM me, or, after 2pm today call or SMS my handy on 01633 772202.

Bis später,

James

Looks like I'm not going to be able to make it tonight after all. Got to go and see a man about a dog.
Have fun. And may the force be with you.
Jimbo
See a man about a dog, eh? You're nothing but a cheeky cockney conman. Hope to see a load of other people down there though.
sparty
Well, looking at the threads there are quite a few people coming.
randy
No, there's just two coming, but they've been very busy posting messages. They'll be drunk 'n horny if a 3rd decides to show up biggrin.gif
Jimbo
That's me!!! biggrin.gif
Hazza
I'll be there - gotta meet some people at 10pm though, so I'll head off then
Jimbo
See you there...hey, are these people girls? Can I come with you if they are???
Jimbo
Right, Sparty and I are heading down to the Schelling Salon right now - hopefully see a few peeps down there (only hope we can get a table!).

Ciao for now,

James

Jimbo
Well, being that it was Halloween, a fair few people showed up. Would definitely like to do this again, but with separate girls and boys nights, maybe starting more centrally and then meeting up at the end... What say you lot???

P.S. Apologies for bailing out early on, but I am really not feeling too good...in fact I think I have to go speak to God on the big white telephone...

Went to some awesome yuppie halloween party with sparty - went out to buy some cigs and I had pretty much the same experience.
sparty
Was a pretty weird party...I heard some things about losing your way while yo were getting the cigs?
beans
It sounds like all of us had a tough time, not even just the people from Toytown. My friend with me said she had the worst hangover ever, like me!
Brummie
sorry i missed you all, got trapped in a really strange party at the berlitz language school of all places - people dressed as vietnam vets and 70s disco divas. only managed to meet up with TT people at ricks party - just as he was being carted out of the door into an ambulance - but thats all on another thread... anyway hope to make it to the next do, or the pub thing tomorrow maybe.
Hazza
Sorry I didn't make it. I ended up getting caught up at work for longer than I'd hoped. By the time I got home and was ready to go, I could have maybe stayed an hour - tops, before I moved on. I just got some dinner and went out afterwards.

But I'm sure I'll catch up with you all another time
