It's a small world, so I thought it would be interesting to see how often Toytowners bump into each other by chance around town.
I'll start:
Aquatic Meringue & I met Keydeck in
Kilians a couple of weeks ago.
We met Hazza last night at the cinema. Just by chance we were seated in consecutive seats in row 15.
Hazza

Yeah, what are the chances?
Aquatic even thought I was part of the group that went with him!!

Actually, I'm not sure whether to be more astounded by the coincidence of the meeting, or by the fact that you and your mate managed to scarf down a 6 litre tub of popcorn before the movie had even started...
Hazza
Oct 13 2002, 12:59 pm
Back in Australia in the oldern days, we used to buy one huge tub each and try to eat our respective tubs between the start of the ads and the end of the previews. We never managed it.

Hazza, when you say that you and your friend used to try and "eat your tubs", do you mean the popcorn which was in the tubs or the actual tubs themselves?
For most normal people, of course, they would eat the popcorn. But having heard about your menu-eating antics at the O'fest I know that you are far from normal.
And Spud! You're forgetting that you and Bee Sting and I all met coincidently at the Italian Ice Cream shop opposite the cinema a few weeks ago. And speaking of that incident, I've still not yet figured out how Showem knew we were there. Showem? Were you there too? Were you too shy to say hello?
I bump into Toytowners coincidently all the time. Not necessarily Toytown people from this forum, but people I know in Munich. It's amazing, a population of 1.3 million, but everytime I turn around there's people I know, or at least recognise. I mean recognise in the sense of Bee Sting's characters. I see the same people at the U-Bahn every day. I see these same people from my
U-Bahn station all over town, in the pubs and restaurants I go to, just on the street. etc... Toytownmania!

Hazza, I turned up late to see the film with a large group of people, and I didn't know who else was coming - so when I went inside and you were sat in the seat next to mine, I thought you had probably just been invited along by Spud. I mean, coincidence only goes so far - or so I thought.
Anyway, you should have waited around afterwards, as we went on for a couple of beers and then on for an Italian meal. It was a pretty good night out.

Must have been close to running into me also. I arrived at cinema on Saturday night with another Toytowner to watch the Insomnia + Memento double feature which started after Minority Report. But then again you leave the cinema direct from the front, and we were inside.
I'd recommend Insomnia for its great scenery, and it does get a little tense in parts, but Memento was the real reason for going (even though I've seen it many many times)...

Greg, we wouldn't have bumped into you because we didn't see Minority Report on saturday... By the time the Minority Report audience came out of the cinema we would have already been in Murphy's getting leathered.

Jake, I did try and make eye contact with you to say hi, but unsuccessfully. And yes, I was too shy to go over, tap you on the shoulder and say, "Hi! Remember me? We spoke for 30 seconds at the Toytown party at UK on Stay." I feared a look of total confusion and non-recognition.

Spud, you said you met Hazza at the cinema last night, and your post was dated from Sunday morning... Which "last night" do you mean?
Malcolm Spudbury
Oct 14 2002, 10:04 am
It was saturday night. We saw "Black Hawk Down". You went to see the double feature, which followed "Minority Report", which we did not see.
Got it?

Now I understand. Was BHD good? I've seen it on an aeroplane, but the screen was too small to really see how good the action was.

So it looks as if half of Toytown spent the weekend lurking at Cinema... I was there to see the bourne identity on sunday afternoon - but, unlike the rest of you I didn't spot anyone I know!
Pootle - not got tickets for Harry Potter yet - are you volunteering to organise?
Malcolm Spudbury
Oct 14 2002, 10:24 am
The first Harry Potter film was crap. Is the next one supposed to be any better?
Hazza
Oct 14 2002, 10:25 am
Aquatic - I would have stuck around, but already had plans. The movie went for longer than I thought it would, which is why I practically ran out of the cinema as soon as the movie was over.
Jake - I just ate the popcorn!!

question is - how would you know if you bumped into a Toytowner if you didn't know them from before..and if you didn't start talking to them and specifically asked them "Are you on Toytown?"

The aura, that and the incessant mumbling about horoscopes.
The black helicopter hovering just out of sight is another giveaway.

Yeah, after Fika, sure, no probs keydeck, kaffe och bulle?
No no no! It is the way they hold the little finger on the left hand. Dead giveaway
I dined on eastern delights with the watery pastry topping, he who laughs like a drain, and the dented. A quiet encounter of the civilised kind... and may I add, no danger of getting into any compromising digital photographic positions. Marvelous

I will generally ask any English speaker that I meet here in Munich if they are on TT.
I always deny any knowledge if asked by a stranger

Before or after ?

Sep 15 2005, 2:39 pm
Oh TTers you meet that you didn't know were TTers.
I tend to ask English speaking friends and aquaintances but most people either say they know it and aren't keen on it or look at me as if I had just asked to boil their bunny.

As for you Monkstown young man, no fair editing your images. Obviously not a TT hand anyway is it ? Unless ... somebody has broken their blood oath, in which case the choppers are already in the air.

A few TTers and I were having a meal at a Korean restaurant. One of the girls on the next table, upon leaving (not because of us I might add!

), asked if we were from TT. The girl turned out to be UrbanAngel!

This was awhile ago; we'd spoken a lot on TT but before then had never met.
I also saw 'lightweight' on the S-Bahn platform down in Taufkirchen the other day. I don't expect to see any TTers down in Taufkirchen!!!

Yeah I don't usually ask random English-speaking ppl if they're on TT, but in this case I recognised Jeeves, and I sort of recognised you from your photo

Glad it turned out ok, but think I turned bright red anyway!

Well yesterday, while eyeing out some flowers outside my regular supermarket, somebody with an awefully familiar accent and voice starts speaking to me - I turn around and see Exile!

We had the unique oppurtunity to sneak a glance at the regulars which end up in our respective shopping baskets. Very exiting stuff.

I have to inform you that I saw Exile standing in front of the crisps-and-junk-food-section..
