Kickboxing studios and classes in Munich

For fitness and fun, particularly for girls

Anyone know of a place to do some kickboxing classes on the North end of town (around Schwabing, U6 or U3 lines)?

If you want a list of all sorts of martial arts, check out IN München magazine. It's a free magazine that comes out every two weeks listing all events happening in town for the following 14 days. Along with this bunch of useful info, it also has a couple of pages of people advertising their martial art studio. Also another couple of pages of dance studios. And another page or so of last minute trips via travel agencies.

All in all, a very informative little magazine. You can pick it up at a lot of different places like WOM or restaurant/bars. It comes out on Thursdays, but I don't know if today is the day or next week.

Try http://www.muenchen.de/frsp.htm Surf to the Sport-Datenbank, type in f.e. Kickboxen and you'll receive a list of official places, where Kickboxen is tought.

There's kickboxing out at Drygaskialle -- check out the Steko gym. I found the instruction poor, but your mileage may vary. There's a reasonably good simulation of Muay Thai in Neuaubing (across from the McDonald's -- can't remember the name though). The level of exertion there is great, but the same comment on the instruction. MTV 1879 on Häberlstraße (close to Goetheplatz), where I work out, has a cardio kickboxing tae-bo type thing. Don't even bother with it -- it is neither intense nor anything remotely realistic -- it's true cheese. I've not found/seen anything else, as I lost the time to pursue the search further..

any more updates about kickboxing out there? i came across this site Steko Kampfsport Center but Mind's Eye, your comment wasn't too inspiring. since this is a new venture for me, i'd feel really shitty if i commit to a year and it turns out to be really sucky. i am probably gonna sign up for a trial training anyhow, but y'alls opinions are valuabbe to me.

i'm also seriously thinking about karate or tae kwon do classes. any ideas or tips? i live in north munich, so i have to rule out the clubs in the south. if i have to drive 30 minutes, i might be reluctant to go anwhere.

acquatic, you said something about a kung fu interest? what was up with that?

also, i was an active fitness-studio goer and for €50 felt that was a great bargain. i could go as much as i wanted or as little. the Steko gym membership is also arond €55 for all-you-can-box but i am afraid it might get boring. i really was thinking a fight-sport would be the way to go cause then i could measure my progress via the belt-system.

Hello!
Does anyone know of any places in Munich that offer kickboxing? I do not want some tae-bo class. I would like to use wraps, gloves, bags, sparring, etc. However, I am not interested in actually fighting or working for belts. I was involved in a kickboxing class back in the states and loved it! It was a lot of fun and "kicked" me into awesome shape quickly. The class met twice a week. If anyone knows of any classes/gyms/programs like this offered in Munich... pleeease let me know! Thanks in advance.

I am going to be living in Munich for two months starting mid April. I was wondering if there are any english speaking kickboxing classes? I currently take kickboxing here (beginner level) and I was hoping to keep it up while I am there. Any help at all would be appreciated!

This is a good kickboxing place, might be a little late (in post), but if anyone is interested.
