My sister-in-law (green embroidered capris, pink checked shirt, mullet) was almost denied access to the Ladies' Room at Hochreiter until she pushed her boobs together to prove that she has a rack.

A waitress at Hochreiter told 20 Norwegians to take off their silly hats - and they did.

Guys are more flustered than pleased when a woman suddenly sits on their lap.

And their mixed grill for two was fabulous:

An hour or so and the first TTers will be back from the Weis'n.
Tales of daring do, porno dirndls and all the whatnot beery leeriness more than welcome.

I know I am waiting for a certain TTer to post pics of her [s]Dirndyl[/s] beer.

Ahhh yes,,, I will be in Der Schottenhamel in approximately 50 hours.
RainKing
Turned up as the only person in Bavaria wearing a red shirt with lederhosen (apparently that's just wrong, now I know better), got the last free seats in the Schottenhamel beer garden just in time for the Big Moment, our neighbour was a Munchnerin who knew the bediener so we got almost the first beer, our bediener was also a priest (apparently he's famous).

Got cold. A friend of my girlfriends met a work collegue who had a friend who had an old school mate who knew some guy dressed as a pirate who got us all tickets for a tent! Then the usual drinking and swaying and pretending to know the words and figuring out how to go to the toilet in lederhosen when you're desperate...

A good day, very flukey.

Ravi ate more than I did and I'm still stuffed some 22 hours later. But damn it was good!

woof.

Before you use the Men's Room at the Wiesn, practice rebuttoning your Lederhosen. Such practice sessions must be staged while drunk to accustom yourself to the real life situation.

I decided to have a look round yesterday, didn't expect to find a seat, but was pleasantly surprised to get one in the Ammer tents beer garden, sat with a couple of Australian women and the Bavarian uncle of one of them. Just had the one beer as I had to drive later and I don't believe the Bavarian police hold the same views on drinking and driving as Herr Beckstein! However it was a pleasant enough way to spend a hour or so.

This ride looked pretty scary, although there was no shortage of people queuing up for it!

It is great:) Nice views from up there, just dress warm because it is freezing!

I marched in the Oktoberfest parade this morning. Great time. But also some sadness thinking that I won't be here this time next year. *sniff*

Agreed, I think I went on that ride two years ago, it was fun! And the view is amazing.

He reported in this afternoon, he's hungry again ...

I love a parade. First Sunday is awesome because all the bands that march in the parade have tables booked in the tents and when the tent band is on a break, the other bands play. And the Filet in the Ochsenbraterei is still the best steak in Munich.
HellesAngel
We were lucky on the first Saturday - arrived at the Wies'n around 9am, walked to the back of Ochsenbraterei and waited 10 mins until they opened the doors. The back doors seemed to open first and we raced to the middle and had a table that was not reserved the whole day. Fantastic.

Yesterday we went for a walk through the Wies'n watching the drunks and bierleiche on the famous grassy bank behind Hofbrau/Schottenhamel/Hacker. It was amusing as ever - 3pm and it was going as good as ever. Pissing, puking and shagging all in the same area. A word of caution - we watched the Polizei there and there are many plain clothes guys hanging around looking for anyone having a crafty joint, and I dare say other stuff too. One puff of weed and 10 uniforms descend in a well practiced choreography... You have been warned!

So in front of the grade school this morning the moms are comparing tent notes from the first weekend.

I really like the parents of my younger son's classmates.

Day 3, 3rd visit tonight. The Bräurosl no way has enough ladies toilets, the pumpkin soup in the Schottenhamel is the best I've had anywhere, the Hacker-Pschörr beer is better than the Augi this year, it is astonishingly good.
Perfect seating both days - Bräurosl table had perfect view of parade and march in. Brewery head did the tapping in one(!), Schottenhamel with TT marvellous crew.

Hot men in Lederhosen and the best bit was taking the hottest one home...

The highlights of my weekend:

We were about ten steps out of the U-Bahn when a Japanese guy asked if he could have his picture taken with us (two Dirndl-clad women). We happily obliged, but then it happened so often that we started discriminating - only those who promised to let us tag our Facebook pictures were permitted.

We arrived at the Hippodrom, reservationless, at about 3pm on Saturday and lined up for an hour before being escorted in (in a group of four women) by an elderly drunk Bavarian with an astonishing waxed moustache. He promenaded us around a couple of times for personal effect, talking dirty all the while, before telling us we were his bitches, pinching everyone's asses, and setting us free.

We made friends with a group of guys who'd been lined up since 7am and been sitting at the empty table for over three hours. I think we came off better - also with the benefit of only buying one beer and never having our glasses go empty.

Sunday we met up with my friend's brothers. A few rides (those high swings are pretty cool, but no one would go on that thing that shoots you into the air and then the hydraulics stop you crashing into the ground with me) then into a tent and beer with a super cool German couple. A synchronised kilt flash from the table next to us and much good natured carousing, and then we moved on.

All this before 5pm, and the evening wasn't bad either.

Spent the opening Saturday at the Bräurosl with some people who I see there most years (although less of the old-timers are there every year, which is sad. Partly because it's getting harder to get into the tents, I suspect.).

We were waiting at the wrong door (the side-doors didn't get opened until much later - anyone else finding this annoying? Wouldn't be all that hard to put signs on the doors to say which ones will be opened at 09:00...), but got spotted in the queue by a waitress I know, so not only got to jump the queue and be seated at a good table, but also got to bypass the security check and get our breakfast in.

As Katrina said, we coincidentally ended up at the best table in the tent to see the goings-on across the road at the Schottenhamel, the parade, and the arrival of the band and the Heide family just before midday.

Yesterday at the Schottenhamel with the TT crew, a similar fiasco with the doors at 09:00. But hats off to the masterful plan of those who walked through the staff entrance, pretended to be conducting an inspection/tour, and grabbed six good tables for the rest of us. Very different atmosphere yesterday in the morning - cold, quiet, tent mostly empty, and everyone looking like they would rather have had a little more sleep. But things started warming up, especially with the arrival of the band at 11:00, and a few hours later we were all flying/jumping/swimming along. Headed out later (must have been about 4:00 or 5:00) for some rides - first time I've been on them! Won't be the last time, though - they were excellent.

Now I'm out of town for the week - probably for the best. Back on Friday, though!

Actually that reminded me that on Saturday night, after loadsabeer, we went to Teufelsrad which is always excellent. This year they've started a boxing competition on the wheel - which is quite entertaining, with the usual combinations of 'Guy in lederhosen vs. guy in jeans' competitions. There was exactly this competition while we were there, and the guy in jeans was a Brit who with his mates had just stumbled on the place - it was like watching Mary Poppins vs. Mike Tyson. For some reason the Brits were much better at boxing after a load of beer than the locals, and the Brits decided that German post-beer entertainment was pretty cool, they'd get arrested for punching Germans in the UK...

I saw a very funny scrap between 2 aussies out the side of the hofbrau tent. One bloke caught one of his mates hooking into his mother apparently who was about 60 and well tanked. It was a beautiful moment in fairness. One broken nose, a screaming girlfriend the mother crying...

great stuff.

They've had that for at least the last 21 years I've been going to the fest ...

The Teufelsrad's had boxing for at least 8 years -- HA, you must not've ever stayed in long enough. Have you seen the Hula-Hoopers? And when they have gents in Lederhosen lie down in a circle and then ladies in dirndls have to sit on them?
Allershausen
I just read this report: Somebody managed to sell a table for 8 people for €8000! Bad enough, but the booking didn't exist! An American couple and a German woman were sold the booking over the internet, but the guy was arrested when he tried to meet up with his "customers".
HelterSkelter
Teufelsrad actually has been on the Wiesn since 1908 (as all the different games they host)! Happy Birthday dear Teufelsrad! You're in pretty good shape for a centenarian!

Bastards like that internet fraud make my blood boil.
Up to now my clients' reservations all ran smoothly, everyone had a great time with a minimum of fuss. It's guys like him that give legitimate reservation agents a bad name.
HellesAngel
100 years and going strong... I've never seen the boxing before, and I've been there a fair few times. Oh well, it just goes to show that there's always something new to learn in the Wies'n... They did the full works, hula hoopers and the girls sitting on the blokes. Hilarious. By far the best time on any Wies'n ride.

Boxing on the Teufelsrad? I participated in 1974 and reffed the match one or two years ago. Great stuff!

Great! But, how exactly does one pull that off?? (for future reference)

It was truly a beautiful ploy masterfully lead by Mehithabel. She pretended to be giving a tour to a group of turists who in turn tried very hard not to laugh at her explanations. Mehithabel actually managed to keep the act together for nearly half an hour. Evidently the wreaths hanging from the ceilings are made by beavers and the lanterns (aka lamps) are made by chinese women. and yes it was a real pig they were cooking in the kitchen. Amazing stuff.

Don't forget the Bayerische Polizei Wiesn report is always interesting (link)

Had a nice time on both days but being drunk reduces your communication skills so you end up texting and phoning people but never understand each other.

- Japanese group kept taking photos of me rather than talking...bloody flashlights

- Aussies fall asleep as there campsite sleeping conditions are crap. Went to a club and they were kicked out because the sofa was more comfortable than their own sleeping arrangements

- Brits keep saying 'I love Munich - I dont want go to back'

- My mate soaked more beer via his jumper than his belly everytime we say cheers

- I have started to acquire the skill of using the button, amazing what a bit of vasaline does

- Never realised we could lose 22 people from leaving octoberfest to the S bahn

Small TIP: dont mix Beer and shots together without aspirin the day after - could not get off the bed to take the medication so I was feeling crap all afternoon.
Ddajleng
it was my first time october event and my first time 3 days "heavy" drinking which coincided with submission of my thesis. also had problem with communication, not sure if I can repeat the drinking experience again, have a hangover first time in my life and a few regrets for not being able to make myself understood. Was hit so badly on the groin with a full box of alcohol, on the chin and on top of that a 200 kg guy stepped on my foot, have a bruise from that. Next time I am wearing mountain shoes to October fest, not drinking and not taking my phone :-). It is great event, overall.

Not drinking? I think that you might be missing the point of the event.

There was a smile at the end and the word "Joke", I am going to drink actually, but thankx for pointing that out

and yes it was a real pig they were cooking in the kitchen. Amazing stuff.

The pigmy men turning the spits with the chickens on was a particularly nice touch, I thought. The lamps also hang down as if they went upwards they would block out the sun. See? You can learn new things every day.

Hacker beer still tops. Do an excellent Käse-Spätzle if you're sick of chook, is about same cost and the waitresses will swap it for a tip.
Teaching people how to do the Donikkl dance? Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Still between that and Joana for Wiesn hit.

seriously some people these days
Seems like there is a reason why police is always in groups of at least 8 or 10 at the Wiesn.

What was she going to do with this gear:

Condensed version:
A yound Croatian woman pinched two bags full of flowers from a garden and when the police searched her home they found further gardening items including flower boxes, a dozen garden gnomes, a garden hose with a rollable winding drum, candlesticks and decorative bits and bobs. The police needed two lorries to transport all the stuff.

What's that got to do with the Wiesn?

Wiesn = meadow = grass = garden gnomes
Maybe you need a Maß or two to understand the connection.
