Delay on installation of DSL with MNet

Would you cancel the order, or wait?

I ordered DSL for my new apartment on the 26 August from the MNet stop in Marianplatz. I've not heard anything from them via post or phone. So I called them up a couple of times to find out the status of my order.

All the times they could find no record of it in their computer but complained that things are taking a long time to enter their computer system "because of the Summer Holidays". I thought this a little odd. So I took my piece of paper down to their shop and again was told that things are taking a while and and that new installs are now taking 6-8 weeks.

(small data point: Friend just moved apartment and their DSL connection with Mnet and was promised and received confirmation for an install inside of 2 weeks).

I like the service I've received from MNet over the last 4 years and would like to stick with them but fear that I will get to the point where they will claim to not have an order from me. So as I see it, I have two options. Neither of which fill me with joy:

1. March down there and give them a letter saying please to either cancel my order or confirm it.
2. Wait, continue making daily offerings to the ADSL gods, and hope.

What would you do? In the mean time I'm using an unlimited internet option on my phone which is OK although hardly fast.

I'd go for option one and also say that you want the first month or so free as you have had to wait for so long. At the moment you don't know if you are even going to get DSL from the company as they have not confirmed your order so you could wait for months and nothing will happen. Saying that their computer system is slow due to the summer holidays is bollox; there should still be a record of your order. If they can't confirm the order than cancel it and go with another company.

Thanks for the advise. This morning I received a confirmation letter in the mail. I have an order number. Nice to send out a letter. Still, let this serve as a warning for anyone planning on signing up with M-Net around now, that their service is SLOW.

Will keep the thread updated with progress.
