Moving back to Germany from New Zealand

Only this time I want to get it right

Gidday again!

After only 4 months back in NZ making NZD, I am getting itchy feet and want to go back to Europe! Only this time I don't want to be stuck fighting for work permits, looking after kids, or struggling to do everyday things/make friends.

Here is the fabo plan so far:

-Improve my german enough to not only be able to go for English speaking jobs.
-Get a one year working holiday visa to at least start me off so employers don't have to wait.
-By the time I leave I would have one year reception/PA experience and would have completed a certificate in small business managment.
-Go to the gym and get strong enough to beat the crap out of my x while looking super hot should I happen to bump into him tongue.gif

And no I'm not going back because of that jerk, I miss the lifestyle I had there before him.

I plan to come back in April/ May after my 21st smile.gif

Soooooo any other pearls of wisdom or ideas to make my second try in Munich a whole heap easier?

Don't mess around with the language then. Go on an intensive course. Do as much additional work as you can in your own time. Don't live in an English speaking bubble (people, TV, media etc) - make German friends, watch German TV, read newspapers / magazines etc.

go clubbing, find out the coolest clubs, go there and look for the wildest group who look like they are having an awesome time and who are standing next to or behind the dj booth. speak bad german to them. they will think you are cute and exotic and you can then find yourself in with the cool crowd and no longer have to hang out with Toytown people. Of course simply fucking the dj or the club owner is an even faster route to success and a large supply of drugs.

Yea I'm meaning more anything else I should think about before I get back to Munich. Although the clubbing plan sounds like a winner, Maybe someone could keep an eye out for a hot DJ so when I arrive I don't have to waste time scouting out who I'm going to bang, thus saving me from even a weekend without mates smile.gif

One year working holiday visa? Who do New Zealanders bang to get that? wink.gif Sorry. But srsly, it's really possible to get that as a NZlander? Is it an under 26 y.o. thing?

BTW, you look super cute. I can't imagine your having to improve to piss off your old boyfriend.

Looking at your pic on your profile i can only say ex is a fucking numwit.Only advice i can give you on moving back here is take things slower next time, have a lot more patience

Cheers fellas. Yes kiwis can get a visa for one year, and yep it is for youngens like me.

Sounds like my plan is about as prepared I can get! I also thought of maybe finding a family who needs an aupair/nanny short term to live with when I first arrive. Only problem would be finding someone who wouldn't mind me leaving as soon as I get a job.

Yes, I was just about to mention arranging a place to stay before jumping on a plane back here.
why not start applying for jobs NOW, rather than wait until you get here, and then maybe you can skip the aupair/nanny bit altogether....?
Work hard on improving your German - it really is going to help you when you get here, and as somebody else mentioned, don´t try to live in an "English bubble" - it´s all too easy to stop working on improving your German, and will work against you in the end!
Good Luck!!

I thought about applying for jobs now, But does anyone actually hire someone 6 months in advance? Don't think so. And seeing as I will be going for admin/PA jobs I will have to attend interviews.

But if anyone knows of any openings going early next year let me know!

Also anyone needing a live in nanny/aupair for about a month or two at the end of April I have awesome references and would be happy to help out smile.gif
