Trip to Oktoberfest - Saturday 27.Sep.2008

Morning All,

I just checked the calendar and saw that there are currently no activities scheduled for Saturday Sept 27th. This happens to be the day before my birthday and I have a free pass for the day, so was wondering if anyone is planning on heading down for the morning/afternoon or evening and wouldn't mind if I tagged along to start my birthday celebrations early :-)

Alternatively we can organise a group of beer hungry hedonists in this thread to make a day of it. Any takers, or do I have to sit home alone on my pre-birthday day?

Well I certainly can't let you spend your free-pre-Brithday-pass on your Toblerone so I'm in!

Come on people. All those of you who didnt manage to get a place on the Sunday trip, why not come along and lets try our luck. Everyone welcome.

We are bound to be able to squeeze ourselves in somewhere and if all else really does fail then we can head into town a find a beer garden to play host to the festivities.

I'll be there with a friend from England. We hope to get there before or about midday. The problem is , too big a group reduces your chances of getting a table, however I'm up for giving it a go! Give us a meeting point and we'll try to be there.

Yeah, I might be interested, too, just to have some other people to go with. But Saturdays are crazy! Keep us informed.

To all those wanting to come along on the 27th my proposed plan to meet up is:

Time: Between 2:45 - 3pm (cant make it any earlier as I have to relocate the kids to Oma and Opa)
Location: See map (corner between Fischer-Vroni and Hippodrom)

I'm still in and I'll be dragging / meeting up with a couple of girlfriends to join in the fun.

If people want to arrive earlier then 2:45 - 3pm, we could always do so and meetup with Marka at that time & location.

I'd like to join, but that seems really late. We got there last year around 11 a.m. on Saturday and had no chance of getting inside a tent. Or were you planning on staying outside? Or do you Müncheners know something we from the wine country don't?

I know it is a little late but my hands are tied, thats the earliest I can get there (kids, who'd 'av em?!)

However, the other other option is that we flip this on its head, you all arrange to meet up earlier, grab a place and instead of you finding me, I come and find you :-)

Anyone want to jump in and arrange an earlier meet up?

My girlfriend and I will get there early and find something. Which tent is the preference? I'll pm my number if anyone wants to attempt this.

OK, last post before the big day.

Meeting time is still between 2:45 - 3pm at the blue dot, which will be as close to the corner of the Fischer-Vroni tent as I can get. I sent out my mobile to those who asked for it, so SMS me if we can't find each other.

This probably won't narrow it down much but I will be wearing knee length brown Lederhosen and braces, a white/red checked shirt and a Janker (traditional jacket), probably also staring at a mobile waiting for your SMS!

So far five pretty strong confirmations for the 3pm meet. If you turn up later, then just SMS to find out where we are. If you have only just seen this thread and want to come along just PM me your mobile number.

Had a fantastic time yesterday!! Thanks to all that turned up and to those that didn't, your loss!!!

Major thanks to Munichjoe and the tip about going to the side entrance of the Ochsenbraterei. Queued for 15 minutes to get in. Another 15 to find a table and then the fun really kicked off.

Well, happy birthday. Sorry again for texting you four dozen times and then going to the wrong tent (the one across from Ochsenbraterei). By the time we figured it out there was no chance of entry to get to you guys.

Next year...
