Going rates for dog walking services

How much to charge for pet sitting

Hello Everyone,

I live outside of Munich, and I want to start offering a dog-walking service, but I have no idea what the usual rate for this kind of service is. Can anyone give me some suggestions about what to charge people? Also, I'd like to know what a reasonable rate for dog-sitting would be, so if anyone has provided this service to someone, or has paid for it before, I would love to hear what you think is reasonable. I would like to charge by the hour for dog-walking and by the day for sitting... I know that in the states people charge something like $15 per half hour for walking someone's dog, and I must say, I find that ridiculous. But knowing the rate in the U.S. doesn't help me figure out what's reasonable in Germany... Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Cheers

I don't know the rates myself, but you may want to check with my dog kennel where I bring my dogs regularily (like Kindergarten for them, actually, loads of fun). Since they speak English and are very friendly, they can certainly help you with this info as you are on the opposite side of Munich and thus no competition for them anyway...
